You could try a nice A line skirt or dress and keep your colors bright as dark colors are usually slimming! Also layering might really help, so do consider a cardigan (with or without a belt) and a scarf too. For footwear, something sleek like kitten heels might work and if it's cold also tights. In my opinion, proportions are key and wearing clothes that fit you well look good no matter what! Probably most are wearing short dresses. Dresses that are super gathered with wide hemlines like a ballerina type dress will make your legs look thinner due to the contrast. My DD wore short dresses to the junior prom and winter ball and a long one to the senior prom -- like the other girls at her school.
