I hope there is room for both in your wardrobe. They will play slightly different roles (brown more flexible/non-seasonal, white great for late spring/summer) and are equally fab on you.

Sveta, honestly, I like BOTH of them, for their sleek nature and beautiful quality. Can you keep both? When I saw #1, I said, YES, and then when I opened up #4, I said YES. That's why I think both would work.

Sorry, it was a very busy day and no time for YLFing :-(
Your comments are very encouraging. For now both pairs are on the comfort trial (meaning I wear them indoors all evening). If they pass with flying colors I will keep...but still need to decide which :-)
I also ordered RH red loafers and Drew loafers...could not resist :-)
I do get attracted right away to footwear in shades of white. I understand that it is Angie's contagious love for it but I do find it very chic and modern. It seems very strange that with my big feet I dare to wear white footwear but if it is streamlined I don't think it is unflattering (or so I tell myself). Now clunky white shoes do not have any appeal to me.
To prove my point on the white footwear: I also ordered these white Ros Hommerson pumps. I don't keep tall hopes about those pointy toes but with free shipping and returns I just have to try.
kkards, I actually like cream or off white footwear better than optic white so I am OK if he oxfords.
I "almost" decided that I want a pair of white loafers to supplement the white oxfords. They have different vibe and I find white footwear really useful in simmer. Still thinking on a chestnut pair. If red loafers work out maybe I will keep those and white... on the other hand with my so hard to find size I can justify keeping them all! :-)
Again - thanks for your help and opinions! I will let you know what I decide.

I love the white loafers. They look fresh. I also own and wear a half dozen pairs of oxfords, including a cream pair and a cognac pair. I don't have a lot of footwear options post-surgery, so I have fun with what works.

I don't have white loafers, but I wish I did. I think that although the color is the same, the loafers have a different vibe and they may work slightly differently in your wardrobe. The loafers are very sleek and more minimalist. YMMV and I may just be an enabler.

Part of why I lack the white loafers is difficulty with fit and comfort. My heel often falls out of them. If they fit well and you can rotate between the 2, it may be worth it . If you really want cognac, you could hold out, though that is a pretty, versatile color.

Great choices!

Of course you should get them both, Sveta! They look amazing. In fact they look exactly like a pair (in black) that I "accidentally" thrifted a year ago, that have turned out to be more than a workhorse. They have been my default for everything--including when I had an unexpected flareup of plantar fasciitis while travelling. So comfy, they can double as indoor shoes (and easily fit in a tote). So useful, that the next time I travelled, I made DH do 2 trips to the cobbler to reglue the toes. Sleek and modern enough to add a bit of edge to a more classic outfit.

The higher vamp and almost-pointy toes make them look modern--much more so than ballet flats, or squarer-toed loafers. They work with everything-- skinny jeans, culottes (yay), and even a midi skirt in a pinch. And if borderline-me can wear them with no frump, you will rock them for sure.

I say, get the white for sure, plus whatever darker colour floats your boat, for our cooler seasons. And even when this style is no longer "in", they will never be "out", so you can still wear them. (I think of them as "driving moccasins".)

I think they look great on your feet -- not frumpy at all, although based on the stock photo alone like Jackie I was a little concerned. Such a good lesson about trying things on rather than just trusting the photos! I like both colors. I love your light oxfords, so I might vote for the darker ones to give you more variety, but if your budget allows you to keep both I think you would probably get a lot of wear out of both (as these have a very different look from your light oxfords, and Angie's recent comments make me feel that like colored flats are going to be very, very big this spring).

I love loafers much better then oxfords, so if the style works for you I say keep the creamy whites, and order the red ones, too. These chesnut ones are also good, but cognac or red would be even more fashionable.

i do like the lighter pair, but I'm drawn more the to the brown pair.
a few questions about the lighter pair----they looked more creamy then "real" white, and when i clicked thru to amazon, they were called bone, and the jcrew oxfords appear creamy as well. so i quess my question is, do you want another creamy white or do you want a white white?

Oh I like both! Honestly I think the white ones make your outfit look just a tad more current. But, with the winters I know you have (because mine are similar), you'd probably get more wear out of the chestnut ones, which are gorgeous too. If you kept the white ones, would you then reach for the J.Crew's less often, or do they fill a different wardrobe need? Like, if outfit #4 would look just as fab with the white J.Crew's, then I'd keep the chestnut loafers instead. If the white loafers give that outfit and others a totally different look/vibe, then I'd consider keeping both.

Also, yay for finding shoes that fit! SInce it's not easy to find a good pair, you might want to consider keeping both to avoid future headaches.

Beth Ann said what I was attempting to get at! Browns to me sometimes need to work harder to look luxe. If the shoe " passes" your eyeball test for a rich leather appearance, that's good. If not there might be more options in various browns than in white. But I have fussy feet, so know that if you find maker that " gets" your feet, it feels great.

You work hard to find shoes that work for your feet and your style. I don't think it would be out of line to have two pairs of white flats. These are dressier, with a more streamlined look.

I love the color in the brown, and the silhouette is great on your foot. I do find myself liking more texture with brown (croc, suede, etc), but I always think that brown photographs a little "flat" if you know what I mean. You describe the color as having great depth -- that would be important to me.

I like how this style looks in the off white more than the brown. I would try them on with your white jeans, culottes& skirts and see if they look good to you. I might skip the brown in this style but get another style in a similar depth of color , maybe navy or gray. But, if it is really difficult to shop for shoes, maybe you do want to duplicate.
I am no help on too many loafers as I keep buying them myself.

Joy, ballet flats do not work for me at all so loafers and oxfords are THE flats for me. Metallic loafer sounds great too!

Too many loafers? Impossible. My favorite loafers are metallic silver or gold ,but I don't have white ones...yet. Loafers are the new ballet flat in my closet

Suz, this is what I was thinking - darker loafers more useful in the fall / early spring (cannot really wear them in our winter, can I )
I was also thinking travelling shoes: as much as I love my white oxfords I am hesitant to travel in them as they do not take wet weather very well (even when sprayed).
...but I like the look of those white ones so much...loafers do look differnet from oxfords - less dressy and more casual I think and also the vamp is not as high...but is it different to justify both pairs? They are also easier to get on/off than laced oxfords...:-)
Red loafers were not ordered yet. I have already ordered those almost 2 weeks ago and decided to wait until they are here to try the new installment Can a gal have too many loafers really?

Keep both. If you have to send one of these back, maybe the white since you have the oxfords. But the white loafers look more like they could take you through summer. Then there is that rich deep chestnut. I am no help. I would want both.

Ooh! Fun! Am I to take it that the red shoes did not work out, or did they not yet arrive?

In my opinion, the chestnut would give you more options since you already have the white oxfords. But the only way to know for sure is to try some outfits. Are there outfits that do work not work with white oxfords that could work better with white loafers? Contrariwise, do you sometimes find yourself wishing for a darker menswear inspired flat? (Then go for chestnut). Chestnut may get more wear in fall/ winter, which is another consideration.

I want to add loafers to my shoe collection. Faced with a limited Canadian retail options + even more limitations with my size I decided to try what shoeme.ca has to offer - in particular Walking Cradles. None of them looked very exciting in the pictures but I decided - why not order and try on?
They came today - 5 different pairs. Here is a benefit of ordering and trying on multiple pairs of similar shoes at once: you can really see the difference in comfort and style. I put on the first pair and it was OK, the second and third were better but the last 2 looked clear winners to me - at least from this bunch!
So here are the winners - Trump loafers. It is the same style in 2 colors - pearl white and tobacco (which is really a deep chestnut color IRL).
Question #1 - am I blind and they are not a good choice for me (aka frumpy)?
Question #2 - which color? White was the one which attracted my attention in the first place. I think classic loafers in a shade of white look more current and dressy. However I already have flat JCrew oxfords in a very similar shade of white - do I also need white loafers and have enough wear out of them?
Also I wished that I also snapped those oxfords in a cognac color. Sometimes you just need a darker shoe - white does not work all the time. Alas, JCrew oxfords are gone now - but should I get these chestnut loafers instead of white? I wish they were lighter - more cognac - but this color is also nice and rich. Loafers in black or dull brown just do not appeal to me but these two colors do.
I need YLF advice here: should I keep white or chestnut - or maybe both?
Help!!!!
