...inevitably, always the most inconvenient thing to change in and out of. And the wrong underwear. I need to bookmark this thread before I shop next time!

I usually wear a cami and some slip on shoes...especially easy to slip something over the cami if Im at a thrift store to see how it works- the wait for the dressing rooms is too long, usually. If Im shopping for pants at the dept stores(HATE that!) I try and wear the shoes I want to work with them...given up trying to find pants at the Thrifts- never works...nor shoes! Also try and wear my 'best' bra if Im shopping anywhere...much truer vision of how something will fit

I like to dress in something that I feel GREAT in - in fact I have a "Shopping for Clothes/Shoes Capsule." I have a choice of several different slip-on shoes (either flat or wedged heel), leggings - so that I can try on skirts over them (without having to take the leggings off - and also so that if the dressing rooms are full, I can just pull the skirt on over my leggings in front of a mirror in the store and still get an idea of how the skirt looks/feels to me), a tank top or cami with an easy on/off fitted tunic over it - for the same reasons that I wear leggings, a scarf - no necklace, post earrings so they don't get caught on anything and a cross-body bag. Easy-schmeasy!

ETA - ALways make-up. I don't feel great otherwise!

I find that if I wear my current favorite outfit that I am much more picky about what I am willing to try out and bring home. Maybe even nothing. I do wear a crossbody bag and in winter I will use a tote bag instead so I can cram in gloves, hat, scarf and I will often wear a puffer coat or jacket, so that, too.

Elisabeth, I was wearing a shift dress when I found myself in Nordstroms for an on-the-fly bra fitting! I unzipped it to the waist and left it bunched up around me there. Not well thought out!

I depends on what I'm shopping for. I usually head out with one specific item in mind, so I dress for that. If I'm looking for a specific pair of jeans, say, I'll wear jeans and a pair of shoes or boots that has zips instead of buckles or laces.

I rarely head out for an entire day of shopping, where I'm just wandering around looking for anything I fancy, so I don't have a special 'shopping outfit'.

I remember one time last year, though, when I popped into an unfamiliar shop on the way home. I'd heard it had some good stuff. It did, and I found a few tops to try on (I'm on a never-ending quest for good tops), then realized I was wearing boots and a dress. I had to get the sales assistant to throw a skirt over the door so I could exit the change room in more than a top and underpants. So, mental note: no dresses while out shopping!

I wear an outfit that I feel really good in. I find it helpful to compare how I feel in this outfit to any new item I try on.

If I am going our specifically with shopping for clothes in mind, I try to wear things that are easy on and off to save time. Not too many buttons or snug necklines that will make my hair stand on end with static.

I often go wearing just normal day to day outfits, but once in a while I will wear a particular item if I am trying to shop for companions for it. For instance, when looking for a tunic to go over my non cargo skinnies, I wore them so that I could see right then and there in the dressing room whether the top would go or not. I will try and wear easy on/off footwear if I know I'm heading out specifically to clothes shop. Lacing up boots again and again is a real drag when you haven't planned it through!

I just dress as i normally would. When i go shopping for clothes i usually have no kiddo in tow so i use this as an excuse to dress a little funkier or more fun. I don't think i'd enjoy the outting as much if i felt like i had to dress simple.

If i'm not wearing the right something or the other i either select that item in the store to try on with it or i just do it when i get home knowing i can always return (i.e. another shopping trip! )

Yes I think "easy" too. But I do try to wear make-up (minimally) and style my hair a little (even though it will be messed up from all the put ons, take offs). I try to wear either: hose under jeans/pants or nude hose socks. Why? Because I hate to try on skirts with huge wool socks or bare feet.

I go with a basic top, easy slip on shoes and trousers / jeans or a skirt. I also try to wear pants if I am looking for a top to go with pants, a skirt if I'm looking for a top for a skirt, so I know they go well (length, fit etc). Furthermore I choose my bra carefully - so I know that I have the right kind for the new top, if I'm shopping for a tightish top.
No make up and no accessories except for my watch.

When you are on a mission for apparel, which outfit do you put on before heading out the door? Do you opt for a few easy on/ easy off pieces, with minimal accessories? Do you dress as you normally would for a day out and about? Do you carefully select your undergarments?

I usually go with jeans, an easy off top, slip on shoes then add a jacket or vest and a scarf. I always carry a killer bag in a larger size, so I can tuck in small purchases or stash my scarf for a few minutes. Rings and earrings are the only jewelry on those days. I never wear any of my fab boots, because they take too long to take off and put on.
