Thanks!

I am taking a seminar in an air-conditioned hotel room for three days, so hence, the jeans. I get really cold.

But, the rest of the time, meaning most of the 2 weeks, I'll be outside, so shorts, tank, sundresses, skirts, etc. We don't eat at fancy places, so I'm not really worried about the dress up factor.

Also, I'm bringing my hybrid Keens for light hiking besides the flip flops and shoe type Sanuk's Locals of Hawaii told me I'd be fine with the hybrid Keens for what I have planned. I guess tennis shoes don't hold up well on the volcanic rocks and the Keen hiking sandals have more treads.

No water sports for me either...other than lazing around the beach looking good in my bikini LOL! With plenty of sunblock too! :D

Hugs and thanks for the help!

Hawaii is amazing! You will have a wonderful time. It is pretty casual there. I agree with others about not bringing jeans, it is pretty warm there so I don't think you will need them.

I would bring dresses and skirts to wear to dinner at night. Bring a few cardis for layering, b/c it can get cool at night.

When I went, we spent the days going sight-seeing around the island. I would wear my swim-suit with a casual dress or shorts/t-shirt for a cover up. That way if we stopped at a beach on the way, I didn't need to completely change into my swimsuit.

If you are planning on doing any sort of hiking, bring some tennis shoes. Flip flops and sport sandals aren't always sturdy enough for that activity.

Have a great time!!

I'm going to HI soon, too! I can't wait. I'd nix the jeans. Linens, cottons, shorts, bathing suits with a cover-up. That's the Hawaii scene.

Mmm, I love Hawaii. I agree with Antje--very casual. I usually pack skirts, shorts, tanks, and a couple light sweaters for layering. Lightweight fabrics are nice because of the humidity. I think the Big Island will be cooler than Oahu so a hoodie would be appropriate too. I recommend a SPF rated rash guard if you're going to be snorkeling--so you don't have to mess with the sunscreen on your torso.

Lucky you! Hawaii is wonderful. And yes, it's casual, and it's very very warm (sticky warm). I'd reconsider the jeans and the "layering" plan. The two times I was in Hawaii (once in May, once in September) I wore as few clothes as possible, and nothing denim, but was happiest in super light fabrics. Mostly I wore sun dresses or skirt with cami or tank.
In the evening, it's fun to dress up for a nice dinner out, but a nicer sun dress or skirt/sleeveless blouse combo will be perfectly appropriate unless you go to one of the fanciest resorts, where you can wear an evening dress.

I have an upcoming trip to Hawaii...big Island and Oahu. I'm doing fun and active things. I'm packing tank tops for layering, solid t-shirts, 2 bikinis, a coverup, a few workout outfits, shorts, jeans, knit skirts, and a few sundresses. I'm bringing a light raincoat as well as some hoodies too.

I've never been to Hawaii. Is it mostly casual there?

Help is very appreciated :)

Hugs,
