I think the black panel keeps it from being too holiday'ish, also - it's (possibly) a jewel tone, so while it might seem Christmasy in December, before and after it'll just be a bold gorgeous jacket. I have not seen it IRL, but I see what you mean about the different shades between the two sites. I prefer the way it looks on the Bloomingdales' site, less "holiday" to my eye. But I love the way the bottom portion is in black so it looks like a cropped jacket when worn with black bottoms. And I've been really into the lace overlay lately. Good thing I'm on SYC.
