I'm a bit like Jonesy - the very extended bangs like really that look too mullet-y for me to appreciate the cut, even on the model. I do like the dramatic contrast between the blunt, straight bangs and the voluminous soft waves, and I think you've got the hair texture to achieve that contrast. Perhaps if the bangs weren't extended so far to the ear?

I'm intrigued by that pixie in the 3rd pic of the slideshow for myself. Maybe someday...

I really liked the way your hair looked when you had it pinned back in the faux hawk, although I don't know how that translates to a real haircut.

I like the style and I can see it on you and I can also see it looking pretty fab, but I have to say that I kind of agree with nicoleb - the style isn't as edgy or fab as you are!

Meanwhile, this style looks a bit similar to your current hairstyle, and although the bangs are different in that they are extended a bit, and the colour's different - it's not a huge change. I don't know what your natural hair texture is like - but somehow I keep picturing a very straight, sharply cut bob with bangs on you.

Something a little bit like this picture as shown in #1? Maybe not as many layers at the bottom, but I can see this kind of style looking amazing on you.

But then again, is your hair naturally a bit curly or wavy? Perhaps the photo I've suggested isn't ideal. Meanwhile, if you were going to go to the trouble of straightening bangs, then it wouldn't be that much work to do the rest. Speaking of which, the last time I got my hair cut, the stylist used a straightener on my hair, even though my hair is straight to begin with - I liked the effect so much that I asked about what kind of hair straightening appliance she used - turns out the brand was GHD - and they didn't have any for sale at the salon (sold out). I went looking and the straightening iron normally sells for a least a couple of hundred dollars, but lo and behold, I found in on Costco dot com for a really good price:

http://www.costco.com/Browse/P.....d=11539165

I haven't ordered it yet myself, still considering, but I was kind of impressed that I could get it from Costco's site for significantly less than the normal retail price of around $185.

Ahem...back to hair styles.

What do you think of a straighter, blunt bangs cut like the picture? Just for something new-ish, without having to go super short?

I can't see the photo on my iPad, but I think I get the idea from the comments. Anna, I think you and I have similar texture to our hair -- wavy, a bit fine, but with enough of it to have some volume. I find it much easier to straighten just my bangs than my entire head, and I can never get all of my hair perfectly straight, which makes the idea of the style you've posted appealing.

I wonder about the blunt bangs though. Have you tried that before? I did some years back and found it very hard to maintain -- I gave up and went with softer, more layered bangs. But I live in a humid climate and my hair often doesn't hold a straight, sleek look for long, even if it's just my bangs. I'm not sure if that is as much of a challenge for you.

It's looks somewhat interesting on the model, but I think with the super-blunt bangs that are extending around the face your features need to be more fine to really pull off this cut.

Looking at it a few more times, it really looks like two totally different styles mashed together, with no real continuity. I say your super cool, edgy style deserve a better hairstyle than this.

I've had essentially the same haircut for two plus years. I don't want to cut it short, I don't have the facial structure nor body type for short hair. Due to my worklace dress code I can't add a fun color.

Hmm...I could see you making this work admirably; however, it would add a harsher edge to your look and I have to admit to prefering the softer style you've been working lately.

I love it! If i could pull of a blunt bag i totally would.

You seem edgier than the hair cut is even though i know the cut is quite current. Maybe it's the curls? And i know you said awhile back you wanted to grow your hair out in a softer cut to contrast your edgy style right? This would definitely be a way to do it.

I think it could very well work for you. You have "light fluffy" hair, and it's style that's all about lightness.

I think it would be bad if you had Victoria Stillwell hair (that lady with the show about training dogs) - stick straight, lank, thin, but heavy at the same time.

Complete honesty: I think I might prefer you without bangs, as shown in your recent copycat outfit pics. Or at least some bangs that are not blunt, more choppy/with movement. Full disclosure: I do have a major poison eye for bangs that extend like that...and my dislike only grew after watching Gretchen Jones on Project Runway a few years ago. They remind me of a bad little boy's haircut.

Sorry for the buzzkill...I'm sure others will love this haircut! It's quite subjective!

Honestly, I just convinced my friend to stop styling her hair this way because it looked really dated. Her hair is naturally curly and she had her bangs chemically straightened. Of course, that was in combination with her clothing choices, and I know what's old is new. Your style is the polar opposite of hers.

I love the first dark short haircut and wish I could wear my hair like that - these are some great inspiration photos!

Straight bangs and curly back - it's very dramatic. Is your hair naturally curly? I think it might be hard to get a non-awkward demarcation between straight and curly but you should ask your stylist about it as it looks cool.
Might be high maintenance to straighten the front?
