You know I LOVE the sailor pants look - hard to find in petites, sadly... I think the only way to know is to try them until you find your perfect pair. They are out there somewhere...

I think that your very slim little petite self will drown in the first pair, but I like the second pair!

Lucky has a pair of sailor jeans in at the moment. If you were my client, I'd have you in those right now.

Hi Tricia, I would go with the pants that have the best fabric. I think you need somewhat of a drapey fabric for this style to look right. I can't really tell from the photos, but they both look a little stiff to me.

If I had to choose between the 2 I'd pick #1 but it might need tailoring (in length, 36" inseam is long).

I realized earlier this year that other than jeans, I don't like pants very much. I seem to have a hard time finding ones that fit well, and I ended up donating or consigning all of my non-jeans pants in the last few months. Other than jeans, the only pair I have now is a pair of black sailor-styled pants from White House Black Market - they're wide leg and high waist and I love them. The fabric is more dressy, though, which makes them great for work but not for anything more casual.

I was looking at these 1940s-style trousers, which have a similar silhouette, and wondering if a pair, maybe in black denim or navy, would be a good casual option. Could I pull off something this high-waisted? I have several PB blouses I'd wear them with, or even just solid knit tops with an interesting neckline, or tucked-in Sweet Pea tops.
