I like platform sandals because they help to keep my feet clean being up off of the dirt when I walk. I also like them because pants that are hemmed longer for winter shoes will still work with the platform sole.
I do prefer that the sole have some shape to it to break up the blocky look like these Danskos I got earlier in the season.

I think shoes like that look cute on. I bought a pair a while back and felt ridiculous clomping around like a show pony in them. Probably wasn't really that bad, but it felt that way to me. I gave them away. I suggest trying some on in a store.

The only concern I have is that when those types of shoes have rounded platforms at the toes, like the first pair you posted (which are GORGEOUS btw), they can be hard to walk on. It's like trying to walk with a rocking chair on your feet.

I'm with Loulou—the clonking weight is the thing to worry about. If I were going to get a pair of platform wedges, I'd get these cork-soled sandals because the color is so fab and the cork means they'll be light:

I have the frye peep-toe version in my closet right now http://www.zappos.com/product/7498451/color/9. So yes, I like them and would wear them.

I like the closed toe ones less than the open toe. The closed toe sandals look like danskos to me, which is not a fashionable association.

I have some that I like but I haven't gotten great reviews on this site with them and skirts. LOP, I'll have to post another pic of them sometime and get some feedback from you. The pair I have are Dr. Scholls. They are pretty comfortable but they do kind of clomp because they don't have any flex.

Both pairs are lovely.
My only worry with wedges is that they can be a little heavy. A pair arrived yesterday and will have to go back, i felt like herman munster clomping round in them!

I love how these shoes walk and they make the legs look great under skirts. I have tried on similar shoes and found them comfortable-to-stand-on and risky-to-walk-in. I haven't purchased them for the risk of tumbling over.

I don't mean your typical summer espadrilles or anything like that. Spedifically, I was thinking of the kind of sky high platforms that have very little difference in height betweent the front end of the front platform and the heel. Usually they don't taper at the back the way most wedge heels do, so that the base of the shoe is a solid "block". Here's 2 examples: http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....Name=CORAL and http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....;id=844132 . For reasons that are hard to explain, it's virtually impossible for this kind of shoe to be any pointier than a slight almond toe. So should I try peep toe and sandal versions to make the look feel less heavy? Would an almond toe work? How should I style them, and who should wear them? Most importantly, do you like this kind of shoe, and would you wear them yourself?
