I do think that fancy shorts outfits look better when the top part doesn't match the way a suit does. In my opinion, the jacket also needs to be shorter, maybe even cropped, and not oversized like in Anna's link. The jacket fits like a dream, the fabric is beautiful--the only problem is that the skirt is a size 14 and I am a size 2. But I bought the skirt anyway, because I have a good tailor whom I trust to remake it. </p> <p>BUT. Since the skirt is going to have to be completely remade anyway I have been thinking about having her turn the skirt (which obviously has a LOT of excess fabric) into dress shorts. I know the skirt is a more classic choice, but the fact of the matter is that an ivory silk suit is not really practical for my day-to-day life (I live in the city and have a commute) so it's going to be more of an evenings out outfit, and I thought a short suit might be more stylish. (I was thinking cuffed short shorts, but not too short--say, an inseam of 5'' or so).</p> <p>If it makes a difference, I'm 31, and my legs are probably my best feature. What do you think? </p>
