They would not work since they would be hard to clean daily. If they are in dark colors they may work. And try some perforated ballets instead if you are looking for similar footwears.

I used to have a pair like those in black and never wore them. They were too flat to be comfortable for long periods and not easy to pair up with outfits.

You know, unless you're going to a small town in the midwest, you'll find shoe shopping opportunities everywhere. I don't know what the exchange rate is, but you might find it easier and cheaper to buy some sandals or lightweight shoes here in the U.S.

I seem to recall wearing these a long time ago so I'm afraid I'm poisoned eye to them and think the opposite of juvenile that they seem to me outdated. They are a great idea (airy in the hot), but I think I recall they got dirty easily, stretched out (or as MandiPa says popped threads and were not so cushiony.

I think if it were a more typical ballet flat shape they'd be fine, these seem more like the Toms shape and in this fabrication I personally find it beachwear appropriate only. Maybe look for a flat that's got a cutout pattern? I've seen several of those around (nothing I can link though, just in stores).

Yeah, I thought you might say that! Mostly I see this style being worn by young teens. The summer shoes around here all seem to be particularly ugly and impractical this year, at least the ones in my price range. I've had a heck of a time finding sandals that I like in my neck of the woods.

Maybe I'll just have to make do with what I have until I can go shopping with Mom.

Sad to say, any I've seen being worn by someone look worn. Not sure they last longer than a couple of wearings without getting soiled, snagged, stretched out.

A basic leather sandal like this would last longer and be more polished with many outifts.

I have a pair and love them! White/cream might be really hard to keep looking presentable though --- mine are red and have survived 5 years now, but starting to look worn (as in threads trying to pop out, rather than too dirty). I use baking soda sprinkled on to brush them out sometimes, and used talc a couple of times too.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan - they are very difficult to keep clean looking and personally, I've tried a few on and have not found them to be comfortable so never bought.

I've been looking around for summery shoes as next week I'm going to visit my family in the midwestern US and I don't own much in the way of heat-appropriate footwear. I've seen some inexpensive crochet-style flats that might work, but I can't decide if they are too juvenile or even ugly.

What do you guys think? I mean the classic style, like this: http://www.crochetconcupiscenc.....00x375.jpg
