Quality at the LOFT can be hit or miss, but I have a wool blend tuxedo jacket from them with a breathable lining that is cut so well and such nice quality that I had it tailored to fit me perfectly. Last year's jeans are from Express. I guess they either work for your body or not. I couldn't get the Editors or Columnists to work though. I had a pleather jacket from Express, too, that was one of Angie's picks. I have not been overly impressed with the quality of Loft knit tops but I think their pants and skirts are quite good if they fit you. I agree with others that Loft prices often seem too high for what you get, but they do have periodic sales and coupons if you sign up for their credit card. </p> <p>We don't have an Express store nearby, I don't think, and I rarely go into The Limited, dunno why, too young for me? However, it's an excellent source for colorful blazers and cute tops. Around Christmas, Limited always carries the cutest, coziest big sweaters, if that's your thing. They run sales all the time, so I'd hesitate to buy anything full price unless you can't live without it.</p> <p>Express: Worth trying out the Editor/Columnist pants for work and the button-down tops. They also carry a good selection of tees and tanks in tons of seasonal colors, but I can't speak to the quality because I haven't bought basics there in years. I'm not a huge Express fan (even at 25, I felt too old to enter!),&nbsp;but there are a few hidden gems every season. I know a lot of women who wear Express jeans, too.&nbsp;</p> <p>Loft: Another place that carries machine washable work pants in a variety of fits. I've found some good, basic skirts here, too.&nbsp;I've been disappointed with the quality of Loft's knitwear, but I like Loft for finding&nbsp;trendier tops to mix in with my basics. The downside is that Loft carries a whole lot of&nbsp;polyester, so buy on sale. I do love that Loft is very good about bringing in new seasonal colors. If you aren't a sucker for colors like I am, this might not be a draw. Admittedly, LOFT is not one of my go-to stores but that is only because I don't have an account with them though I need one because they actually have a petite's section. (I'm a petite XL in jackets and tops). Limited and Express I haven't shopped there in at least 10 years. I think it's because they're clothes look too young for me in addition to the fact I'm not sure they carry tops in my size. The last thing I bought from Express were a pair of their Editor pants they were fantastic. I was a much smaller size 8 when I bought them but they were my go-to dress trousers. </p> <p>Here are some of the things I got from LOFT.&nbsp; <br />#1 is an a-line box pleat wool skirt. It came with a brown velvet belt to tie in a bow. I got this skirt around 10 years ago but it's such a classic. <br />#2 Last fall I picked up this metallic weave light-weight batwing sweater. It ties in a bow at the back of the neck. I love this sweater, the color is neutral but the metallic threads catch the light beautifully<br />I also have several button-down shirts from LOFT not pictured. I forget) Editor pants, but they didn't work for me at all.</p> <p>I'm also looking for comfy jeans and pants that look good with flats. I seem to keep picking up bottoms that are slightly too long that require my booties that have a bit of heel. It's a great look, but not one I want on weekends, LOL.</p> <p>Same with tops -- I have all these flowy shells that need a topper. But on weekends, I just want to throw something on but not look like I'm about to settle in on the couch with a blanket and a book.</p> <p>This also translates to: machine wash AND dry! I've had to&nbsp;line-dry (or flat)&nbsp;nearly everything in my closet and it's now&nbsp;keeping me from wearing things. </p>
