Beautiful thread.
I started reading YLF and other style blogs for guidance while refreshing/replacing my work wardrobe - I don't get a lot of inspiration from people around me because, like Angie and others, I am usually over-dressed/polished. I am enjoying the inspiration and ideas shared on YLF, I enjoy thinking of "style as a journey, not a destination" and, of course, YLF is lovely company for the journey :)
I like that I am comfortable/content in my current style/wardrobe. Not lazy-comfortable, relaxed-and-enjoying-it-comfortable

I love that even reading this question makes me happy.

I love knowing what colours make me happy and why - colours are probably the most important aspect of my style, which may not be too obvious because I wear mostly neutrals, but nothing makes me happy as the right colour on the right person (me or anyone else).

I love that I know how to transfer my moods to my outfits.

I love that I no longer feel like I’m missing out because I’m not too trendy.

I love the confidence my outfits give me.

I love that I refuse to wear what’s uncomfortable.

I love that I no longer get frustrated at the shops, but know that I picked the wrong for me item - not that something’s wrong with my body.

I love how fast and efficient shopper I’ve become.

I love that I’ve made a full circle - stylewise I’m back to where I’ve been eons ago, but now with deeper understanding of why I love wearing some things.

I love that I receive compliments gracefully and that I take great pleasure complimenting other women -- and --

I love that I can recognise the joy they took in getting dressed.

Love reading this thread.

I'm not loving much about my style at the moment because I'm in a huge transition and it is surprisingly difficult.
I do have some pieces I love, but not enough of them.
I love the feeling of getting rid of stuff that no longer works.
I love that I love trying new things, have the ability to learn, intrinsically love clothes shopping, and have a budget that is not too restricting.

I also love using everyone else's love statements as goals for me.. Angie you in particular have not only accepted your personal style, but your personal SELF in a way that is truly inspirational. (You are not the only one but your posting stands out to me)

....and what more can I say about how much I love YLF??? :-)

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's responses to this question. :)

There's a lot I love about what I wear lately.

I love that it's easier and easier to find Gear and Gear-Casual clothes with a little bit of edge and sass. I love my moto-inspired softshell jacket and my moto-inspired running tights. Of course I want to feel tough and bad*ss when I'm out hiking with my toddler and dog. ;)

I love that everything in my wardrobe feels sturdy and versatile. Like, I can wear the same thing all day without knees/elbows bagging out. I mostly manage not to put holes and snags in things, because I've gotten pickier about quality construction. I am hard on my clothes. I have learned that my everyday wear is going to be inherently RATE and new things need to be able to tolerate a little RATE-ifying. Unlike many folks here, I still "save" a few special things, because I am a destroyer. :)

Love my shoes. Love that ALL my shoes are all-day shoes.

I love how easy it's become for me to put together a decent travel capsule that can handle anything from children's museum to all-day hike to trendy new restaurant. I spent much of the past year living out of suitcase-sized capsules, and find I get more compliments when I dress out of my temporary/travel capsules than when I'm wearing my everyday default clothes. 2017 may be the Year of the Capsule Wardrobe for me.

I love that I've managed to prune out almost all of the colors I don't love, and that I no longer settle for items in colors that I feel "meh" about. Happy colors! Even if my primary happy color is often black.

I love that I have confidence in my feminine maximal, colorful, boho style and that I have a variety of silhouettes to keep me from being bored . i use style to match my mood or even make it better on a cloudy day, so variety and versatility is key to the joy of it all. Now if I could kick this menopausal weight gain....

This is a great question and a very interesting thread. I had to give this some thought before responding. Like you, I really like that my current style reflects my real, authentic self and lifestyle. Additionally -- I love that this fashion period where "anything goes" is in sync with my style persona. My style has always been rather eclectic and chameleon-like (by choice, as I crave a lot of variety and am an emotional dresser/shopper). My wardrobe reflects this as it is all over the place, stylistically speaking -- arty, preppy, boho, avant-garde, retro-vintage, modern classic, romantic, RATE, tomboy and even a little goth thrown in there for good measure. I very much agree with what Aziraphale just perfectly stated "I am happy that I can wear anything I like and not feel foolish" . If there was ever a time to fully embrace my eclectic nature, it is now.

What a great question. I'm having fun reading through the responses!

I am happy that I can wear anything I like and not feel foolish. That's one of the nice things about art school -- literally anything goes.

I appreciate that I am usually not completely sized out at most stores, even though I sometimes take things to the tailor for a few tweaks. I've heard a few stories lately about women my size who can't find clothes to fit. Shopping at Eileen Fisher for the first time was eye-opening, because I really WAS sized out of some of their stuff -- even their smallest petite size. I makes me grateful that there are many other options where I live.

I'm happy that I'm finally wearing my clothes and not worrying about wearing them out. It has finally sunk in that clothes are consumables, not collectibles. Even if something takes ten years to wear out, it's still something that will be "used up" eventually, like soap.

I love that what I wear may actually (at least sometimes) reflect a few trends while they're trending -- thanks to Angie and YLF. First time in 63 years. . .

I love that I've gotten over wearing completely nondescript clothing in a nondescript way.

Whoo hoo, great thread, texstyle!

I have upped my shoe game for sure. And I have more confidence when shopping, which results in better choices and things that I actually wear. Since joining, I've noticed that two of my extremely well-dressed, high-end shopping friends now want me to come on their shopping trips. I think it's because I now have the "YLF eye" and can give constructive feedback. My SO won't shop without me because he knows I'll keep him from buying impulsively and ending up with things he'll never wear. I wouldn't have gotten to this point with Angie's and the collective YLF wisdom, that I know for certain.

Nice thread indeed, Texstyle!

Like you, I like that my style finally reflects my real life and the real "me". Of course it is still a work in progress, but I am much happier now, with my small practical wardrobe, than I was some years ago, with a ton of stuff for "fantasy life". And like you, I have to say thanks to Angie and YLF.

NIce thread!

What I love about my style...that I look good in the clothes because I insist on proper fit; that it is distinctive enough from others' way of dressing that I routinely get compliments; that I get a chance to dress in a more flattering version of what I would have liked to have worn when I was a little kid (in the seventies...my mom dressed me in the worst of what that decade had to offer!); and that I have a lot of unique accessories that can significantly change the flavor of an outfit from ordinary to eye-catching. In fact, just today I had a boring-outfit day (long-sleeved t-shirt and white jeans), so I added a boho-inspired neckerchief from Urban Outfitters, and it completely changed the look of my outfit to make it a little retro. And then I felt fab!

What a fantastic topic for a thread! And I love reading everyone's answer! It makes me smile to picture each person in one of her favourite outfits as I read.

I love so much about my style, thanks to YLF. (I certainly wouldn't have said that before I got here!)

I love that I purchase for the life I really lead and the climate I really live in (and not just whatever happens to be on sale in my size).

I love that I experiment with trends.

I love that my closet is full of so many beautiful things that I really enjoy wearing...I like putting something on and revelling in its colour or texture or both.

I love that I can play in my closet, creating new combinations.

I love that I feel confident shopping for myself -- I know (more or less) what will work, what's a risk, what I'll enjoy, what I won't like.

I love that I feel, increasingly, that I have a distinct style. Not just a love of fashion, but a true personal style, that I'm going to hone even further in the next few months and years.

I love my silver statement pixie which makes me feel a bit rebellious. :)

I appreciate that I am very emotional about my style, and listen to my feelings all the time. What I wear MUST make me happy.

It's late and I'm tired and I'm cranky but this just jumped out at me, Angie. This is why I love you and your forum and why I keep coming back after all these years. It articulates my direction and why I came here in the first place. I knew this emotionally but you put it into words, and give me permission to do so. Thank you! Penny. Dropped.

It explains why some days I have piles of clothes on my bed because the outfit I meticulously planned the night before (and may even have worn several times before already) suddenly doesn't feel right. But may again a few weeks later. It's all internally driven -- emotions / hormones / whatever change from day to day. It's why I've learned to pack two alternative outfits for my 3 day meetings, just in case my mood swings and what was rationally planned now doesn't feel right in the morning. It makes me also see that the "perfect pack" (I planned this and wore this) isn't such an achievement, it just means whatever was driving my emotions to the contrary was in check that trip. Hmm.

Ties in with Suz's silhouette thread as there are definitely certain silhouettes I fall back on again and again when mood hits. Comfort zone silhouettes? Nothing wrong with that. Though I also frequently crave going out of my comfort zone as well.

And ties in with what I was saying about aspirational dressing, and on the other thread about my necklace splurge -- which was a totally emotional decision I rationalized.

I love that I have learned to eyeball items and understand how they will fit, that I have learned that it is the item not me, that I can "read" fashion shows and Angie's advice and understand how to apply it to myself and that I am still having fun with fashion on many different levels. Thank you texstyle for asking and Angie for getting me here.

Wonderful topic!

I love the amount of trendiness I incorporate into my style these days--enough to show I'm aware of current trends, but not so much that I appear to be chasing after trends.

This is a bad time to ask me this because I don't feel all that stylish lately, living out of suitcases and having no closet to hang stuff in, nor money to spend, due to renovation. And I'm just plain cranky due to renovation inconvenience.

That said, and thinking beyond the renovation and when I'll have a beautiful closet to hang stuff in, what I love about my current style is knowing myself and being true to myself.

Trends come and go, I pick and choose what works for me. I know myself well enough that I'd like to try them out, but won't be a lemming if the experiment fails. And if it doesn't fail, then I'm okay with trend becoming my own personal classic.

My style reflects my real life but I also know myself well enough I need some aspirational items -- and that those aspirational items propel me to find occasions to wear them, which I consider a positive. I'd say 80/20 rule is good for me. Instead of saying "that 20% doesn't belong in my closet" I say "I should push myself to seek out occasions to wear that 20%" ... which I do.

If an Oscar-worthy full length red carpet gown found its way into my closet, I'd find a way to get invited to the Oscars. No such gown has found me yet, but I do like how certain aspirational splurges have expanded my life, in that I can't use "but I have nothing to wear" as an excuse for doing things apparently my heart craves doing. Even if I don't fully realize it until I am at the cash register buying that item that is totally unrealistic for 80% of my lifestyle...

My current style is very much different than my younger days. There are many reasons for that, including lack of petites way back when. But no, I did not have any fashion fun in my younger days as I had no idea what worked for my figure, my body image was whacked out, I hadn't grown into my own... which is what I love most about YLF, as it helped me to do just that. The process had already started with me but YLF was the expert guide.

I love that my style blends mainstream trends with alternative elements. I love that it is comfortable and casual without being Comfort and Casual. But most of all, I love the stompy footwear.
