I applaud your instinct to pass on all the strapless gowns out there. Some of them are gorgeous, but a little variety would be nice! My favorite aspect of this gown is the wrapped effect at the waistline, which creates a "virtuous" but womanly silhouette. The neckline has aspects of what they called "queen anne" in the 70-s. Now, I tried on 60 gowns. yup. I was having fun, partly because I fit in most of the samples fairly well. When I found the "one", which ended up being a discounted sample, I knew it right away. Oh -- I also suggest honoring your budget, even for this big day. I think a bride should have a beautiful dress on her body, but still keep a little money in her pocket! (When I got married a few years ago I too had a horrible time finding something that wasn't the usual strapless bandeau, and ended up making my own dress.) And I think the lace straps are a nice compromise - not too mumsy but flattering on you and really sweet. And the ruching is really cute too. </p>
