(And, in fact, I make my living based on the need for it.) It's no more or less gross than all the ads telling us we need to be hairless, scent-free, slim... I think it makes these women look so silly and makes light of real confidence and body image issues as a result.</p> <p>That said, I don't doubt that any women or men would undergo attitudinal changes in the same experiment. It's just the placebo effect writ large, but with a twist. I will accept that these were real women who<br /> thought they were involved in something real, and then at that point both the placebo effect and the value of talk therapy took over.&nbsp; In my opinion, their attitudes changed because of (1) they made a video every night about how they felt about their beauty, and (2) <i>they were waiting</i><br /> to feel better about it. The combination of the two improved improved their outlook. I'm not surprised.</p> <p>The thing is, no one looks good here. Dove looks like a maniuplator and the women look taken advantage of.
