I think if the brown is very rich and saturated it could work fabulously with your black, gray, and brights. If muted, less so. I personally love rich brown paired with black, as well as with gray, citron, tomato red, certain shades of blue... probably lots of options in your own closet. I think you should try them. Actually this is a timely post for me because I have a very old pair of brown high waist, wide leg pants that I have never worn but always save from the donate pile at the last minute. The only thing wrong with them is that brown is not a color I wear. But, I love these pants and if they were black I would have worn them constantly. Now that wide legs are popular I tried them with a black top and I could make them work so I'm keeping them for now. I'm going to play with some of the other color pairing suggestions here too. Given the exact same item in black and any other color, even something as neutral as navy, I nearly always choose the black when it comes time to make an outfit. Besides as Traci says, so long as your butt and crotch are covered by the top, who cares? I'd love to find actual nude-for-me leggings to wear as a tights alternative but maybe that's just me. That said I'm not generally a fan of brown. Every one of the (few) brown items I've owned has turned into an orphan even though technically it's a good color for me. Since we like a lot of the same colors it might be an issue for you too. (ETA: although I do have a tweed skirt that LOOKS brown from a distance that I like and don't have problems pairing. Something about the fact that the tweed is actually lots of colors so it feels less flat brown or something. So perhaps if the texture on these is more pronounced it might be easier to pair?) I have couple of pieces and I don't really pick them. the only relatively useful item are dark chocolate brown tights. I mostly ( the only way) wear them with my turquoise/aqua dresses. I have never thought about mixing it with blacks,grays or burgubdy. Last one seems really appealing to me and I have lots of burgundy... So basically, I am saying I would like to see I would be interested in seeing you on above mentioned combos to suggest any thing. But thanks for asking it, now I have some ideas to try too.
