just wondering if your heel is "lifting" as you walk…i find that when boots are this big on the ankle or shaft circumference, the heel is also to big…they maybe comfortable and seem to fit when i'm standing still, but when i walk my heel comes up, and my leg rubs on the shaft.

Sarah, I really find the "finds" useful too. I picked a few pairs to put side by side and compare since the circumference listed is often off. I tried on the pair from Little Burgundy and wanted to see how the others compared for height and width.

If you have slim ankles it is really hard to find a pair of short to medium boots that aren't loose. I have a pair of Rockport motion something with a wedge heel that fit close to the ankle but don't rub like every chelsea boot I have tried.

If you find something that works, please post. I am always interested in boot options.

I think the trend is a new thing, although I did have a pair of boots with very narrow calves that were AWESOME until they disintegrated. It is hard to google them without getting "boot socks" but I found some by going onto Zappos and narrowing down all the criteria. Here are two other pairs that looked promising, but not with the heel height you want.

Thank you all for your feedback. I will return these and look some more.

Alaskagirl - I missed your earlier post. I never heard of "sock boots" That's what I've been looking for! But I would like a little bit of a heel (around 2"). I have never seen these in any store. Is this a new thing? Are we ahead of the stores?

Beth Anne - I love to see Comfort Brands put out designs that are no So ugly. Why is it so hard? One of the problems is that I do have high volume feet but bony ankles and calves.

abc - so THAT'S what flower pot effect is!

Firecracker - Thanks for the visuals. That really helps. Yes I think I'll be looking for sock boots or a lower shaft boot. I do have Fry Motor boots that I'll try with these pants. Thanks for the idea!

always trying - yes, I do like the look of a little ankle showing so that's probably what I'll have to do. I just wanted the warmth of a taller shaft.

plonkee- I hope your right! I seem to have a new hobby of boot shopping.

Yes I think the circumference is too big. I wonder if that's why they don't look quite right with the trousers. I bet there will be other better boots.

I think it is the pants, too wide and too long If you look on hundreds of pins on Pinterest and loads of blogs 90 percent of the boots have at least a little gap. Never heard of "flower pot" anywhere but here!,!,,,,,

I think you need to keep looking; you are right that the circumference is too big for your ankle here.
I'm finding that skinny ankle pants are hard to wear with short boots. I do wear them tucked into wider-shaft short moto boots (photo 1). But I'm finding that with the narrower shaft short booties, I want to have just a little bit of skin showing. So I end up wearing my ankle pants with my shorter shaft booties (photo 2). (Okay, I see there is no sliver of skin showing in the photo, but I think it does when I move.)
I will admit that I am pretty flummoxed by ankle pant lengths in general, so take my examples with a hefty dose of salt.

I think ESP in photo 4 it's showing the dreaded flowerpot effect. Maybe try the ones AG linked to if you decide you can't tolerate the gap.

Naturalizer is putting out some new designs, with comfy footbeds, this year, and these are a great style.

I'm guessing these would work better for someone with "high volume" feet. There seems to be a bit of excess leather at the top of the foot and ankle. Also, the shaft would be easier to manage, even at it's current circumference, if it were either taller or shorter. Right now, it's kind of inbetween.

I just ordered the Topshop sock boots I posted about earlier for this very reason - I personally can't unsee or work around the gap any longer.

In my quest for comfortable somewhat dressy boots to go with my BR ankle sloan pants, I checked the YLF Finds. I came across these Naturalizer boots collected by Cheryl (Dianthus) and ordered. Love the finds!

They are VERY comfortable. Nice padding and a comfortable 2" walk-able heel, Subtle Snake print on the back (I love anything in a snake print), higher shaft, nice toe shape ...The 2 zippers are bit redundant and wish the one wasn't in silver but I can live with it.

What doesn't seem right is the shaft circumference. Is it too big? My pants bunch up on the top of the boot.
Photo 1: pants over top of boot - but won't stay that way when I walk or sit.
Photo 2: Pants bunching up hitting the top of the boot - maybe if the circumference was smaller this wouldn't happen.
Photo 3: Maybe I need to shorten the pant? I pulled up the pants to show that.
Photo 4: Showing the gap at the calf - is it too big?

Or do I just need a boot with a shorter shaft for these pants? Or longer wider leg pants?

Thank you in advance for all your YLF wisdom!
