Jewel tones work for me and don't necessarily say 'fall' or 'summer' to me until you pair them with sandals vs boots, or the fabrication is heavier or lighter. For instance, I have a berry purple light weight cardigan that is just as fitting in August over white shorts and sandals as it is black jeans and boots in winter. This spring I'm really gravitating to navy and cream with tan and khaki tones. I wear black, white and denim blue as well. Last year I wore a lot of color, and tried to break up our long hot summer by changing out the different colors I wore to make a Spring, Summer and Fall (all super hot). I either got tired of the brights or the mediocre quality of the clothing I had, so this year I'm thinking about keeping things more neutral. We'll see how it goes! Now, I have both summer and winter versions of items in my same signature colors. This means I end up wearing plenty of black and gray and rust in summer as well as yellow, orange, and lime in winter... I find I wear more white in summer - only because it is always available, not through choice. I love that european look of dark colours in summer & light colours in winter. I like black, dark brown, navy, and white for summer. Early summer i use more color, but quickly it feels too warm. I may try to add green for hot weather. Colours I wear in winter, but not summer so much would be darker greys, dark purple, dark teal & emerald, hunter green, purely dark stripes (ie/ grey and black stripes - but I would wear black or navy striped with lighter colours). Now when I go to resorts I wear more flowy fabrics, florals etc - things I wear less at home in the big city. You can see - trying to do lighter versions of the same color family for the summer. It helps me remember if I'm looking at something in linen, I probably want it from the right side colors or the light grays. And if it's a heavy Fall or Winter item, it will play better in my closet if it's from the deeper colors. In the summer I gravitate towards the lighter versions of those four colors. This summer I plan to focus on all white, white and black combos, bright blues and greens, and cool pastels (mint, blush, lilac, baby blue). In the summer I wear a lot of white or soft grey as my base color instead of as much black (did I mention I love black?), pops of navy, red, nude, purple. Usually I have some accenting accessories in gold. I guess I'm not super into color but I feel summer means more lighter colors so I do have one classic pink sweater that I wear with white and navy. I live in a 4 season climate. For me, the biggest change in seasonal clothing is the fabric weight and also I go sleeveless with a lot (a LOT) less layering. When I used to wear black I wouldn't wear it as a solid colour; I'd wear a black skirt or dress that had a lighter floral print on it. I used to mix and match using summer colours with my staples of black and navy but since I live in a hot climate in a tourist area I used to get comments about me wearing ''winter clothes''.....I assume they meant the dark garments. Most of the people I meet when out are tourists and they tend to bring summer wardrobes they would not wear at home so it set me puzzling what other people wear in the summer.
