The colour, to my eye, is a beautiful mid-toned, amethyst purple. Wearing it with darker denim would create a darker outfit than when worn with white, but, because of the sheerness of the top and the cropped pants, would still look summery. </p> <p>One of my favourite outfits for a summer evening in the city is a pair of slim black crops with a floaty, semi-sheer, sleeveless black tunic. I wear it with strappy black sandals, and, because of the lightness of the fabric and all the bare skin, have never felt the need to "lighten" it up. I doubt you need to lighten up much, although the outfit you describe sounds beautiful. The top is not dark, even if you wear it over a dark cami.
