I think the jewelry confuses me. I've always preffered silver, however, I've never noticed which one looks better on me... my tastes just gravitate towards silver.

I also know that I look terrible with warm colored eyeshadows. I wear cool toned greys/blues/purples and cooler taupes well. I look kind of sickly in any warm eyeshadows.

Not everyone fits neatly into the 4-season color analysis system. If you can wear both gold and silver, you may be one of the neutral seasons. In Lora Alexander's system, which I find to be much better, there are 12 palettes, not 4. There's a ton of info. at her website.

I can wear gold, but feel I look better in silver. I'm a Soft Summer, which is on the cool side of neutral. My skintone appears neutral on the surface but has cool undertones. It's difficult to explain. That's why I strongly recommend Lora Alexander's prettyyourworld.com website. She explains things much better than I. She also has a book, which is available at Amazon.

Judging by your description, you are a Spring and probably look your best in bright clear colors such as coral, salmon pink, apple green, periwinkle blue, warmer orange reds, golden browns, etc. Very easy way to determine whether you fall into cool or warm category is to hold a piece of gold or silver jewelry to your skin(or gold/silver fabric to your face). right color will immediately make you look alive and vibrant.
That's how I determined that I was a cool Winter, gold next to my face makes me look washed out and sort of sallow.
Pastels is usually not your best bet, or black for that matter. I know that lot of women like to wear black but its actually harsh color to wear and doesn't flatter lot of people

I'm glad it helped! I figured out, at long last, that I'm a Soft Summer... but not the Jennifer Aniston type. I'm the other type of Soft Summer... the one with the dark hair, like Katie Holmes. Winter colors make me look pale, Spring and Autumn colors make me look jaundiced, and Summer pastels wash me out. You can imagine why it was difficult for me to find a color palette to suit me. Thanks to Lori Alexander, I did.

Thank you for these links! I will check all of them out.

I just remembered - I wore a salmon-colored top once, and I received many compliments on how I look in that color. Maybe I can see whether salmon is included in the Spring (warm or cool) and summer colors.

Thanks Ruth! I just did the DIY Colour Analysis and discovered I'm a Deep Winter! I've been wanting to know this info since, oh, forever! So I've confirmed my best colours are True Red, True Blue, Deep Charcoal, Black, Pure White, Hot Pink, as well as some deep cool colours like Pine Green and Deep Chocolate Brown. Helpful stuff! No wonder I look death sickly in my light beige jacket - off it goes!!!

It sounds like you could be a spring OR a summer. Here's a good website that might help you figure it out. They have different seasonal categories (12 in all--I think) so if you are in between, they have a category for that too! Good luck!

without seeing a picture of you in some different colors, my gut reaction to what you are saying is that you sound like a spring.
Is there any way you can post a picture or 2 to a flikr or photobucket account and post the links?

Hello. This is my first post, so forgive me if this belongs in another forum.

I am having a hard time determing which colors look best for me. Can someone help?

I have light skin with a warm tone. My eyes are blue (sort of an aqua blue with gold around the iris). My hair is light brown with a few natural golden highlights.

I took a quiz once, and it said I could be a "Spring", but when it asked me what colors I favor (warm vs cool) I picked that I prefer cool tones, so it really confused me. I always thought I should lean towards cool tones because blues bring out my eyes.

Blue/greens, lilac and grey are my favorite colors to wear, but I don't know if I look good in them.

I do know for a fact that I do not look good in black. It really makes me look terrible. And the only colors that I have determined that I look good in are ivory/oatmeal.

Any ideas?
