Have you thought through the tops you have in your wardrobe to see which shorts they might pair with? If you want a neutral, on the theory that it might be easier to match with a wide variety of tops, do tend to wear more black, white, or navy, for example? It's hard for me to tell from the online pictures if the crochet detail shows up better on certain colors. Of the neutral shades, I think I may prefer the indigo personally. It seems like navy is always in fashion in spring and summer, with nautical colors and it is neutral but maybe a bit less expected than black. For me the white lace reminds me of bridal fashion and lingerie but that could just be me.
