I think that purple red would also work, especially if you get more use out of that color. Same rule goes with complementary colors: Blue-orange, yellow- purple, red -green. You can use versions of complements, red hair and olive green, chocolate brown and teal, yellow ochre(gold) and eggplant, blackberry and tomato-red. They are all versions of complementary contrasts That is why I think that a warmer red with purple being closer to its complement is more interesting and effective. Blue red and purple still work but they are similar temperatures and therefore not as interesting (IM0). The are analogous (next to each other on the color wheel) colors and work very well. I am not surprised that you love tomato red and purple Angie. You have a keen sense of all this color stuff. That being said, exceptions are made all the time and I believe almost any color can work with another if you balance and connect it with others. High end fabrics are great examples of really unusual color combinations.<br /> Anther example is the popular combo of yellow and grey. It is absolutely gorgeous and extremely versatile in my opinion (and I know the colour is very flattering on you).
