Navy - its both a neutral yet powerful at the same time. Great choice.

I actually have this in the Tawny Olive..and Love it. The quality is subperb..and you will love the lining.

My second choice was the red...but felt the olive one was easier for me to wear with my wardrobe...with the velvet I thought it a little "Christmas only" but that is just me.

I loved how they showed the red one with a denim shirt underneath..not sure if it was in their catalog or online...anyway it looked great.!

This is a great buy right now....I would be inclined to go with the blue one...for the reasons I stated. But ,if you can afford both you wont have to choose!!. Additional 30 percent off I think now.

Much better deal than I got!!

I don't know why this popped up but it's funny. I ordered the gray based on other comments (as this was a duplicate post). JCrew sent me a gray skirt instead of the jacket and when I called to reorder the gray was gone. So, they sent me this other reddish color which arrived today on the condition that I could return it. Well, it totally does not work so I'm taking it back. Such a bummer because I liked the fit of the jacket a lot!

It's a beautiful jacket, Juli. I like the Navy and agree that if that was the color you were initially drawn to, then that's the one you should get.

However, I really like the yellow and green one too--but those can be really tricky colors to wear. (Though Greenglove would look fabulous in them!)

I'm not much help, am I?

When it comes to choosing a color of a jacket that will be a basic like this one I often pick a jacket that mirrors my hair color or eye color. The neutrals can always be worn together. Stacy and Clinton from 'what not to wear' state that alot. So black and brown and black and blue can work together. So can the brown and a blue of equal color value. I like the gold jacket myself but that is probably cause I have reddish hair. Whatever color you choose it is a really fine jacket.

I think it'll be a great choice either way! Navy and black do mix (as long as you have some brighter colors in the outfit, since it's a pretty dark navy), and I think it's a very different jacket from your black and white blazer, so there is absolutely no duplication.
That said, I personally find the red color stunning and it would be my choice if I got to pick one for myself. But since you said the navy popped for you, I think you should go that route.
It's a winner either way.

If you loved the navy, then go for it. It's a great jacket and I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear out of it.

I really like the navy and would go for it. It can certainly be worn with black, it's a very sophisticated combo. And it would also go well with your reds and whites.

I won some cash at a Bunco party last week and was thinking of purchasing this JCrew velvet blazer which is on final sale.

http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../97130.jsp

My problem is - I'm not sure which color to get. I tried on the Navy many months ago and it seemed to really pop for me, but I'm wondering if you can mix navy & black? I'd most likely be wearing it with red and/or white as those seem to be the most popular colors in my closet right now. Or - should I go with the red color as I already have a black blazer (with white trim tho) - in my closet?

Thanks for any advice you can give.
