That makes sense. Thank you also for the note about knits. That's something to consider.

Absolutely Joy. I focused on a generic list (few people wear specs daily). Perhaps I should have included them anyway. Thanks for pointing that out.

Also, I’m happy to buy a fun cheap handbag or inexpensive fabulous shoes (I own Me Too’s). I also have jackets from Zara and H&M. But when it comes to spending money on certain things, that’s “the category”. Hope that makes sense.

I used to spend money on knits but found that a waste of money. No matter how much money I spent, knits pill and look shabby quickly. I therefore won’t pay premium price again.

I'm surprised eye glasses aren't on the list.
The only one I'm on the fence about on Angie's List is handbags. Before TLF I could see the point because I carried one neutral bag all season except for more formal occasions. Now I'm seeing bags more as a part of an outfit and changing them frequently. It seems like there are lots of cute bags out there for under $100.

Angie can probably chime in as the expert here. This is what I personally do: make sure it sits squarely on my shoulders, there are no baggy pouches around the chest area. The sleeve length is good. If it's a full sleeve jacket, then it should extend below my wrist to the base of my palms. The length works for me (see various posts from Angie on lengths for different body types). And just as important that it's not too small for me. I always raise my hands above my head to see if the underarms feel tight. If the whole jacket rises with my arms, then it's probably not right. And lastly, I button all but the last button and see how that feels/looks too.

Thanks everyone for the answers!

To hijack my own thread~~ Sihaya, what do you look for to indicate a good fit in a jacket?

I agree with the list above. It has made such a HUGE difference to wear Chantelle bras and Miracle swim suits thanks to Angie. Taffy, since you're in the market for structured jackets - I'll put in a demi-plug for them as well. It depends on how and how often you wear your jackets. I own both inexpensive as well as expensive jackets and there's a big difference in how they fall and drape over my body. I don't need to wear the pricey ones at all times but sometimes it's hard to put on the cheaper ones knowing the fit of the others

I have a fairly similar list to Angi's. I do not mind spending more money on jeans, outerwear, shoes, bras and anything cashmere, sweaters especially. Ah. and add Theory pants and DVF wrap tops/dresses to the list. I also agree on bags, but am yet to do so, all the ones I like are way out of my (financial) league and in the meantime I have to carry my things in something

Stylists will differ on this point of view, but here are mine in no particular order:

o	Shoes (anything for your feet)
o	Handbags
o	White shirts and blouses
o	Trench/Jacket
o	Coat
o	Skincare ( be it in the form of products or facial care. This does not mean makeup)
o	Bras
o	Bathing costumes
o	Jeans

Also, it’s relative. What one person defines as “spending money” may not hold true for another.

Angie mentioned on the jeans 101 thread that a Prada trench was not worth the money, but that premium denim was. That made me wonder.... What items have you all tried that you thought were worth the extra money; or not worth it conversely?
