Wellies I've got a good pair on hunters, might not be as practical as other options but certainly practical (you get what you pay for!).

Such great boot posts, I would love to have every pair listed....That's terrible isn't it? After reading all the posts, I think I need both dressy and casual slush boots. I like the idea of a fur-lined boot like the Sorels or the Duck boots to get me through dog walking in deep snow and running errands. I have been eyeing these Tevas. Just wondering how the foot bed feels in all these. I don't think I will get the same reaction from my DH as Beth LOL!

Viva - those Hunters are cute and Diane those Naots are smashing. Both these would be great for a dressy slush boot. I would love to visit a La Canadienne store. I must find a reason to make a trip to Canada.

Thanks for these posts. I am writing them all down. Maybe Santa will find my list!

It depends on the amount of slush and the length of the walk. If it's not too bad, I'll wear one of my two pairs of Aquatalias (there are no words to describe how much I love those boots). If I need to be dressy and the mess is too deep to safely wear those, I'll wear my Hunters or my LLBean duck boots and change when I get indoors.

Funny, but while DH likes me in dresses and heeled boots, the boy loooves me in chunky sweaters and my LLBean boots. Boys are so silly sometimes.

Depends what I am doing and where I am. If I am going to be outdoors hiking and such in deep snow or real slush, I wear my snow hiking boots.

If I'm casual but wanting to look a bit better I'll wear my Blundstones (with insoles and extra socks to keep warmer).

If I'm dressed up, I'll wear my new La Canadienne boots (black or charcoal suede.) I wouldn't wear them on the absolute worst days but they are weatherproof and I would simply take care with my walking. I find my leather boots last pretty well this way, even in awful conditions. I got 3 seasons wear out of the last pair I had.

I do avoid my fashion booties for these kinds of days. Or, like Ceit, if things are truly dreadful out, I simply wear boots and carry the shoes or more delicate booties to be worn indoors later.

if i am going somewhere that i can't change my shoe, i have a pair of la canadienne waterproof boots, that look like just "regular" boots that i will wear, these were pretty expensive, but since they are on there 3rd year, i think i have gotten my money's worth. i used to have a great pair of suede boots that i had sprayed with water repellant spray, but alas, after 5 years, they had to be retired.

I recently got a pair of bright aqua blue wellies that I might wear for this kind of weather (with warm socks!). I also have two pairs of leather boots that I have worn in all kinds of yucky weather without any problems. Granted, neither pair was expensive so I'm not going to be heartbroken if they get a bit damaged.

I wear a pair of Ariat Fatbabys. They are inexpensive cowboy boots and meant to get dirty and mucky, and are wonderfully comfortable. I treated them with mink oil and they have held up for several winters now.

I have a pair of Aquatalias that are great for this. Got them on sale at Nordstrom Rack because they are not cheap, but they last forever -- I have an old pair from about 10 years ago but wanted some taller ones in black. They look a little like these, but they're a bit more streamlined and all black: http://www.zappos.com/aquatali.....lack-suede I wore them yesterday for shopping and they are so comfy.

I wear my leather riding boots, they are treated and they wipe down easily. I try not to spend too much time *in* the puddles or slush, but they hold up well.

The suede Baffins look amazing but would probably be harder to get the salt off of and we use A LOT of salt in my province. With leather it's just a quick wipe down when I get home.

If i am going somewhere not very fancy where I would not be changing my boots, I wear my Sorel Slimpacks.

At someone's house, for a fancy occasion I would wear my Sorels (Cate the Great or Slimpacks) and bring shoes to change into at the house. Otherwise, around here if you were going to a friend's house for a casual thing you would just wear your winter boots and then inside just wear sock feet, or, sometimes people bring slippers if they know you keep your house cold and they are a good friend and comfortable at your place.

I've had my eye on a pair of these Baffin Madeleines for a little while, for exactly this reason. I love all my leather shoes to bits and the idea of putting them in salt and snow gives me hives. ;)

I have a pair of knee-high Hunter boots that might do with thick socks (and maybe their welly socks too), but I think the Baffins or perhaps a pair of Sorels would be much more suited to the task.

On days where we have heavy snow and/or slush, I wear Ugg Adirondack boots -- sort of a taller version of a duck boot. They are water resistant, fleece lined and very warm… don't even need heavy socks. They are not particularly "fashion forward" but are, in their own way, kind of cute when worn as part of a winter-casual outfit. I am all for keeping feet warm and dry this time of year… and that, in my book, totally trumps being super-fashionable.

The other night when I attended our local gallery hop I was at odds with what boots to wear. We had a mini 6" snow storm the day before and I knew the streets would be a combination of slush, ice, snow and cleared salt covered pavement. The weather said boots to me but even though my leather boots are treated for the weather it didn't seem right to stomp in the slush in them. I opted for my water-proof hiking boots so I didn't feel totally fab but my feet stayed dry. I am wondering what boots everyone wears when it gets down to walking in slush. Do you wear nice leather boots? Cocolion had a great solution to this question in her WIW today with cute duck boots and casual layers. What does everyone wear?
