Finally a twin for me! Yay! My measurements are very close to yours. I'm 5 ft. 2 in. tall and my measurements are 36" bust, 27" waist and 37" hips. I presently weigh 120 lbs. I also have broad shoulders and avoid any garment that has shoulder pads. If I can help you with any fit issues or brand recommendations, please let me know. From your pic, I think our bodies are quite similar. Are you short waisted? I'm short in the waist but long in the rise, and my legs are on the short side.

I agree that it's a pain in the rear to find pants that fit in the hips without being too big in the waist. I've found that if I don't want the waistband to gap, I'm better off with pants that are low to mid rise. Hope this helps.

Pants are not the easiest garment to fit on pretty much anyone, so don't fret too much about that --- just keep on trying them on, a few pairs at a time. Angie herself has to take in her pants waistbands at times --- it's easier to do that and fit your behind or thighs first. Also look out for pants with a back yoke (especially jeans) that arrows to the centre seam, as they often fit better on a rounded derriere, and many of the ladies here have had good luck with the Levi's Curve ID styles.

If tees are the way you usually go, try some knit tops that are not T-shirts, for a start? They should fit as well, and appear less formal than button-down shirts or the like. Or take a boxy, drapey shirt or blouse that hangs loose rather than being fitted, and see if you like it belted to show off your shape but not appear too tailored.

Glad you have everything figured out I'm not good with body types, so my guess was pear. But I do see the hourglass for you

Thanks you guys!

Ha, I never would have really guessed I was actually an hourglass. I couldn't figure out how I -wasn't- a pear. I guess living in a family of bananas tends to make you assume.

ManidipaM - Oh, you have it right on about trying to dress like a pear! The bubble-booty also makes it really hard to find pants that fit. I end up having to get something that fits in the toosh and belt it 24/7, unless I want everyone knowing what color my panties are.

I'd say my current problem is that most of the clothes I find that actually fit me seem either way too formal for general wear, or are just comfy fitted T's. It's difficult to find an in-between.

No worries, you're an hourglass with IT (inverted triangle) tendencies from your strong shoulders --- and you have a great, balanced shape, with a defined bust and waist! You're *not* a pear because your hips simply aren't as wide as your shoulders, from the photo --- measurements are not everything; how the body distributes its muscle and fat, as well as your bone structure, matters more.

I had exactly your measurements for a time and after a bunch of those magazine quizzes, tried to dress like a pear for the longest time --- and it would not work! Because it didn't take into account my shoulders and the fact that my pelvis was narrower even if my booty is a bubble!

So in summary: it's not you; you're lovely; it's the clothes that are cut wrong for you. Don't lose heart. Have a look at Angie's outline for hourglasses, and keep an eye out for those shapes. You'll find the clothes for you, never fear.

In fact, maybe if you ask for recommendations on specific garments, someone with a similar shape here might be able to tell you what works for them, to narrow it down a bit for you.

I think you're an hourglass. As I understand it the hip measurement is from the front, so if your shoulders and hips are about even from the front, you are probably more balanced than you think. You have a great figure!

I was gonna guess a banana or a pear. I'm not entirely sure if you fit into one specific category or not. Maybe you're a mix of both?

Hi all!

I'm hoping I could get some advice on what body-type I am. It's been bothering me for a long while, and I find it difficult to find clothes that fit me well. For all I know, I'm just looking at the wrong stuff! I have no idea what looks good on myself.

I'm a short-built 5'2" and my measurements are 35 - 26.5 - 37. (bust/waist/hips) Based off that I'd say I'm a pear and be done with it - if it weren't for my shoulders. They're a good 15" across, which is actually the same, if not wider than my hips! (I get all my hip measurement from a rather annoying round booty as opposed to actually having wide hips.)

I've had online quizzes call me anything from a banana to a pear to a hourglass, and then my best friend tells me one day I'm not busty enough for a hourglass - and then the other that I'm "a travel-size Marilyn Monroe." Ah! Confusion!

I seem to carry my weight rather evenly distributed everywhere. I fret about my thighs the most, but to be honest everything is a bit more "round" than I'd like. (Of course, this is coming from a person who hangs out with really tall, skinny-built friends who can't gain weight even if they try. Not a fair comparison, but I do it anyway. I know, bad.)
I've gone from weighing 130lbs to 123 in the last 4-5 months or so, and everything looks pretty much the same - except I need another hole in my belts! I'm also rather athletic, though you'd probably never know it unless you knew me. (I build muscle easy but have never been able to get it defined.)

Sorry for the essay! I'd post some pictures but I'm not sure I can, since I'm a new member.
If I can still post links, here's the only good picture of myself I have on hand. I'll get some better ones when I can.
