Hazard: It is interesting to just go by numbers when determining body type: I'm the same height and a couple pounds heavier with an inch difference smaller in bust and waist. Online calculators make me out to be a pear, but my shoulders are much broader than any pear, enough so that I'm an invert triangle, though small-busted. Shoulders make a difference!

Your shape sounds similar to mine, and I consider myself to be a slim hourglass, with a bit of rectangle on top. I also sometimes call myself "curvy on bottom," since it is the bottom half that is curvier.

Hey, we're really quite alike. I'm also 32C, but an inch shorter and 15lbs more (at 115, I go to the hospital because I'm type 1 diabetic and medium frame). You sound very fine-boned. Could probably do some great 'pixie' looks

Thank you rachylou
I measured like you suggested ,,, a little tricky don't know how accurate but it looked like shoulders 17, bust 13, waist 11.5, hips widest at low point and 16.5.,, approximately..... So I'm taking a wild guess that I'm a rectangle/ hourglass,,,, or a less curvy version of hourglass and a more curvy version of a rectangle an ectomorphic hour glass :)
also to note I do not have a small bust in spite of my narrow bust line I'm a 34b to a 32c ... Which I see as average and in proportion to my body ,,,
In reading the ward tobe suggestions I think the ones for hourglass work i.e. Higher waisted jeans, button downs that are fitted at the waist ,,, but I can also pull off blouses with ruffles or details because I'm not as voluptuous as a more curvy hourglass
Thank you all !!! I love this !!!

Width from side to side, only in front. So, like instead of wrapping a tape measure all around your waist, you'd just hold it up in front of you pulled straight... But you do sound like a slim hourglass/rectangle. My measurements are similar, tho I note my torso is short and my legs relatively long...which is another aspect besides shape that affects how clothes look...if I'm not careful and emphasize my waist, it can look like my legs start at my neck (!)

Thanks Liz
I haven't figured out how to post a pic but I took your advice.
When I consider my silhouette from my shoulders down I'm an hour glass ,,, I just never looked at myself that way,,, because I often thought of an hour glass bust and hips being the same size ,, but when I visually draw lines from my shoulders I can see the hour glass shape although less curvy on top as bottom ,,,, my shoulders are the same width as my hips at low point,,, and my waist is defined ...thank you!!! You and surefit have been so helpful!!!
One thing I would like to share about jeans.... Like the advice on avoiding muffin top I have found low rise jeans don't work ,, I get muffin top and when I sit plumbers butt!!!! With my underwear showing ,,, higher waisted jeans are great! Jones of New York makes a fabulous Jean with built in tummy panel as a bonus!!! They work great for slimming and accentuating a small waist and avoiding muffin top

The best way to determine body shape is visually (not by numbers and measurements). Look at your silhouette face on, in front of a mirror, with your arms at your sides. You can post pictures of you like this (face on, full length, arms at your sides) and we can help you.

thank you stays fit!!
my waist is markedly smaller than my hips .,, it slopes down no shelf (never considered my shoulders until this forum and although narrow ,,, they match my hips! I had never measured! ) ...also I have a narrow rib cage ... Bust 34.5 and under bust 30! If that's a factor. I really would like to figure this out!!

It sounds like you could be rectangle or hourglass. If your hips and shoulders are the same then is your waist noticeably smaller? I think there is a guide of waist ten inches smaller than hips, which yours isn't, so probably rectangular with slight hourglass tendency.
