Btw I looked at the link. And I actually wear a size 0 to 1 in jeans but with bikini bottoms I'm a small (size 3-5). My tops are small believe it or not (same 3-5). But my bikini top size is medium (size 7-9). But most medium shirt I drown in my arms are too skinny my shoulders are too small in some some are ok for my bust and shoulders but really roomy in my waist and arms. Smalls tend to just fit me snugly but I don't risk my shoulders breaking anything. Like in extra small so can break shirts if I get in them too fast if I had a small bust it wouldn't be a problem as much because rips seem to be impacted by both my shoulders and bust. But I've ripped through many of my 0 when I was heavier now there's like two 0 size pants I have to slowly put on or else my butt and thigh may break them. It's always in the crotch areas or butt area where it breaks not my thighs exactly. My shirts rip in either the bust area the back or front shoulder but never at my waistline.

So as far as sizes go I'm relative the same on top and at the bottom.

I also don't have a cluttered look I like close fitted tops to accentuate my bust to waist to hip ratio. I like jeans with pocket to widen my hips and don't like leggings but I wish there was one kind that actually accentuated the hips since they tend to make them straighter. My hips are straight no curve but they're set far apart so I prefer the width to be accentuated not the the straightness of them.

My issue tends to be balancing the hips out rather than waist definition.

I'm 20. I was the inverted flat hipped triangle for 5 years which is why I find it odd. But I heard some women say their hips got wide until 25 so maybe I'm not finished even though I believed I was done at around 14 since my dimensions stayed at the same.

How old are you? The broadening of you hips may just be a matter of your body maturing, same with bust size. And then later, as you hit menopause, your waist will get bigger even if you don't gain weight, and your girls and butt won't be as high even with exercise. . . .

Yeah when I gain weight I don't become an apple or a pear more hourglassish Weight distribution. I guess since I mainly gain weight in my bust butt and thighs. My hips have widened but only the bone not actual fat. I can feel my hard hip bones just the same.

My tendency with weight gain tends to be on my bust and if it has to go somewhere else it goes to my butt then thighs it's why I got stretch marks on butt only because it was stretched more drastically than my boobs or thighs were. Despite my bust having most of my body fat. My waist only gained an inch with 25ish lbs of weight gain while my bust gained 2.5 cups/in. And I went up two pants sizes and my thighs were like 3-4 inches bigger. My hip bones got wider but no extra fat on them.

It seems to me, based on nothing but observation of myself and others who've gained and lost weight, that the IT with extra weight becomes an apple, while the hourglass with extra weight becomes a pear.

It has to do with your body's tendency to add fat to your upper half vs. your lower half.

Also I found something on top hourglasses just now too which may deal more with my problem.

http://trendsfashionandbeauty......hourglass/

Sorta helps I don't want to minimize my bust though I like having D cups.

I just wouldn't mind bringing out my hips.

@sarah

My measurements are actually hourglass according to most body shape calculators. And my body shape actually has changed in relation to hips and waistline. Before my waist to hip ratio was a around .76 and now it's below .7. My waist has also never been below 24 even at 84 lbs. so that's what the body shape change seems to be at. Along with my hip bones getting bigger for no reason. My measurements at 84 lbs were 35-24-31. While now they are 36-23-33. I was more a size 00 baggy in 0. Now I fit 0's comfortably a tad tight at times and I wear 1's sometimes. (I'm short).

@gigi that last pic was my before pic which you are right is an inverted triangle shape. But my previous measurement was 35-24-31. While now I'm 36-23-33. Also my weight gain is not in my waist but more in my bust butt and thighs. I also have very skinny arms. And my high hips are 30" and the one below are 32. My butt isn't flat but it's not most of my hip measurement. It's a small butt.

@dawn an inverted triangle has little waist definition and hips are close in measurement to waist which is why dressing like one is useless. Both my hips and bust are 10 inches or more wider than my waistline. So I am in hourglass range now 36-23-33 as oppose to 35-24-31 my measurements previously. Which is why it's hard to dress because my waist exaggerates everything and with hourglasses it doesn't address my shoulders so. It's a mix of issues here.

You're an inverted triangle, but you have an extremely curvy waist. Have you thought about high lighting that when you get dressed?

I'm just going off the last picture, because the first three are a little too blurry to make out your whole shape, but I would say you are still an IT. ITs are determined by the relationship between the shoulders and the hips (shoulders wider than hips), so even if your waist gets smaller, it wouldn't change the IT shape.

The body shape calculators are only so much help, because body-shape designations are generally based on *appearances*: what your body looks like from the front. So a person could have a very large hip measurement, for example, but appear very small-hipped from the front because she carries her weight predominantly in her behind. The body shape calculator can't take into account that particular weight distribution.

Looks to me like your body type is an inverted triangle. From your measurements it doesn't seem like you've changed body types with weight changes. Here's a post from Angie on how to dress an IT body type:

I started off as a teen up until this year an inverted triangle. My measurements were 35-24-31 when I was underweight and 37.5-25-33 when I was my heaviest 108 lbs. I was 100 lbs a while my old measurements were 36-24.5-33. My waist has gotten so much smaller it's 22/23 inches and everything else is the same (36-23-33). Most body shape calculators say I'm hourglass too.

Why did I change? And how does one dress a top hourglass?
