So much depends on your lifestyle. What capsules are you hoping to fill?
I work a job that requires some days of smart casual and some days of pretty smart dress. I also have young kids and dogs so weekend on the go outfits need to be durable, comfortable and stylish. Then I have my extremely important, though not used often enough, date night and cocktail party capsule.

Spring in Denver is usually quite a bit colder than I'd like. Mostly I put away the super heavy clothing - wools and heavy sweaters - and pull out just a few lighter weight, lighter colored items. I keep my seasonless items in rotation - button front shirts, pencil skirts, wrap dresses, jeans (including white and fun colors), blazers - and add in the lighter items for that springy feeling. This year I'm excited that I have footwear that is perfect for in between cold and warm weather - oxfords. Yay!

Our spring is so variable. It doesn't really begin until April. Or maybe May....at which time, summer might be two weeks - or six weeks - behind it!

So I tend to wear:

Jeans (regular denim and white denim)
Cotton or lighter weight sweaters
button downs
Trench coat
booties (vs. boots)
lighter-weight trousers
jackets (leather and a navy blazer)

I need a pair of oxfords or other low heeled shoe. I would like a pair of the fun runners.

Spring is still not very hot, so I imagine I'll pull out my more summery tanks and put them under light jackets or cardis, with jeans (white is good this time of year) and sandals or ballet flats instead of boots. Essentially I lighten up the basic winter look with airier tops and foot wear, and a lighter color pallette.

I don't have a lot on my list, but here are my must-haves (that I already own):

- two blazers, one black, one gray
- knee-length spring coat
- short boots
- maryjane heels
- jeans
- breezy tee shirts (to wear with the jeans)
- light cotton button-front shirts (for jeans and skirts)
- knee-length cotton skirts
- fitted knit blouses (to wear with the skirts)
- a couple of boyfriend cardigans

I think that covers it. Happy organizing!

ETA oh wait, and I only have one pair of sandals (wedges), but once the weather is warm enough, they get a lot of wear. I don't wear ballet flats but lots of gals swear by them.

My workhorses are white jeans ( I have enough styles, lengths etc...), blazers (I'm searching for a floral and a blush this year to add to my collection of colorful pontes and new white replacement), and my tunic tops to wear with skinnies, straights and eventually clams and bermudas. The only thing I'm really hoping to add that is more elusive is a (some?) breezy floral dresses that can be casual alone or dressed up for work with a blazer. White tees are also a must under all the blazers.

A workhorse that I have to replace has been mentioned. White denim!!! Plus I wear a lot of black so the white lightens me up for summer. I also wear lots of silk blouses for regulation of temperature. Breton Tees (these never go out of style). Gladiator sandals. What else, a cute summer dress.

We don't have much of a spring here, so mine is a more late spring/early summer phase. I can't live without t-shirt type blouses, usually silk ones. Those are a staple for me. And a couple great coats, a trench and a utility.

Hehe, for spring I basically eliminate a workhorse - the thermal underlayer. But this year I'm gonna try working in matching floral top/pants. Thjs is gonna be a tricky maneuver because spring is such an iffy thing. I feel the sunshine has to have really set in before I start wearing these. But like right now, the cherry trees have bloomed but I'm sitting here waiting for the rain to start. We've returned to winter...

I'm interested in trying coloured bottoms. I've purchased a navy polka dot skirt, a tomato coloured skirt and an aqua skirt. I t hink, for me, skirts are a little more forgiving and they will be cooler than trousers r jeans in Florida. Also, anything with stripes seems to catch my eye. Navy and white, black and white, I LOVE stripes.
