So much great inspiration here.

I am loving the Moschino zigzags and Ikat prints this year.
and flowers are on most of my blouses. Big flowers. not ditzy

vertical pinstripes are always fab!

I love all the prints Aida posted.
Have added a bunch of prints to my closet recently - several variations on Ikat, polka dots, two stripes and some abstracts. I like graphic prints as opposed to watercolors I think in general although I did pick up two sweaters that have vaguely Claude Monet Waterlilies influence.
It helps me to think of patterns in terms of Art and then I can consider what I know I like. I think if I would hang it on my wall or display in home (ikat = tribal rug) then I could wear it.

Rae, that racecar print is grrrrreat!

I often reminisce about a pair of white pants I used to have with black sketched dinosaurs all over. Triceratops, T-Rex, and I believe Stegosaurus. I used to wear it with a trio of bright t-shirts (not all at once, just individually) in aqua, purple, or hot pink. It was dynamite. I always felt brainy wearing those pants!

I have developed a huge crush on the prints this season. I have always loved stripes and polka dots, but now I really like animal patterns a lot too. I have just got my first leopard blouse, and would really love a bird and a cat print too. I am swooning over this Chloe cat/tree blouse.

Abie, what a FABULOUS dress. I too an a stripes girl. I am jut starting to wear polka dots.
And I LOVED Vicki's post the other day with the Pucci-like dress. Aida's number 5 is great too.

For me, the big thing is trying new colors and combos.

'Current' loves
- Scarf prints
- Oriental-style prints that might have been inspired by a kimono or a Chinese watercolour
- Oversized brushstrokes in inky hues
- Ikat-like abstract/geometrics
- Animal/bird/butterfly conversational prints, of which I like best the ones that resemble detailed guidebook/naturalists' notebook illustrations (ie, hyper-realistic) and the simplest silhouettes; though I rather like the Miu Miu too, I usually don't enjoy more 'animated' renditions
- speaking of silhouettes, I saw a couple of cameo-inspired prints I liked
- soft florals (and I usually hate those, but right now there are some great interpretations, and I especially veer to the more oriental ones)
- chalky white or inky 'scribbles' and 'naive art' or doodles such a child might make
- chevrons and nested diamonds and Missoni-like zigzag stripes that recall old-fashioned Florentine embroidery

Polka dots with florals a la Cath Kidston and stripes are things I've always loved, as well as tweedy checks and houndstooth, ginghams (especially pink, red and yellow), plaids both tartan and madras-style. Those are perennials to me, as are the traditional 'figured' ikats of India --- the ones where the pattern draws a set of flowers, or fish, or temple spires, or trees, or an elephant, a doll, a chariot... I love the evocative nature of it, using a technique where the outlines are always blurred and abstract.

Hmm, I love pattern, don't I?

Had to think about this one. There's the perennial favorites (geometric anything but especially stripes, checks, chevron; and abstracts), but this season I seem to be really drawn to "slightly abstract" prints. I haven't seen a lot of them, which is probably I didn't add as much print to my wardrobe this season as I'd hoped. Some of my current faves from my wardrobe:

1/2 - slightly abstract ikat prints
3 - slightly abstract chevron print
4 - slightly abstract check
5 - slightly abstract floral

EDIT: I also reeeaaaallyyyy want some cosmic prints!!

My favorite types of prints just now are the kind that looks like a modern art painting and not repeated:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/al.....tback=8079
or an oriental motif:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/ci.....56-0-0-1-2
Neither of these examples are the best of the type but all I could find quickly.

I love color and pattern, but

1. I coveted this black-and-white floral print when I first saw it at Anthropologie last spring, and then again when they used the same fabric for a different dress this spring. I finally ended up tracking down my size in the original dress, from an online seller, and am SO excited to get it.

2. I can't afford this dress even at 40% off, and the shape is impractical for my petite 32A bust--but oh, the pattern is just gorgeous.

I think I like them all (or just about)!-) Stripes, polka dots, strong graphic patterns, abstract floral prints, chevron, animal prints (that's fairly new for me)...

I have no patterns to attach but I've never met a butterfly print I didn't like. I always enjoy stripes and polka dots too.

I never met a stripe I didn't like. Even the horizontal ones that have a "broadening" effect on me. Oh...and I really like polka dots too!

In light of Angie's post today, I thought it would be fun to share pictures of our favorite patterns!

I've been enamoured with the Miu Miu cat print since it came out way back when. Something about the cat's stance and expression is much more charming than any cat print that's come after. I'm also digging riots of color and placed florals.

How about you? I'd love to see what you've been ogling!
