As most of you know I thrift often. Lately at a place called Savers. They have clothes that are organized by size, style and color and you can exchange. It is amazing. I got my 20 eyelet Docs there along with a Guess leather jacket and recently a great bcbg velvet skirt. You have to be up on what is current which is why this site is so helpful!! You could end up looking really dated id you thrift without knowledge. Most of my wardrobe has been thrifted. I am unusual, I love to scour for unusual and high quality pieces. I have a hard time spending any money on clothes that are cheap in quality. Target has cute styles but I agree about the fit. H&M is ok but again the quality is not great although trendy accessories are a great deal. Marshalls and TJMax are hit or miss but there clearance sales are amazing,. I just bought a Theory button down for 15.00. If you shop often you can do really well in many stores but I tend to actually find better quality secondhand.

Marshalls and TJMaxx (Marshalls for shoes, clothing, and bags and TJMaxx for jewelry, shoes, and workout gear), Target (belts, jewelry...has anyone seen the new Erickson Beamon line?), consignment shops and thrift shops, and Express when they practically give things away with all their coupons.

I like Marshalls and TJ Maxx, but they are hit or miss sometimes depending on what items they have in stock.

I used to shop at Target all the time, but like Maya I can't find things that fit. They do have cute accessories. I also like Claire's for accessories.

I also like Express, The Limited and Victoria's Secret (online) for work clothes.

Forever 21 isn't the best quality, but I find some fun, trendy pieces there sometimes.

I also like Payless for shoes. They're not always 8-hour shoes, but I've found some cute flats and sandals.

I also want to throw Express and Mango into the mix. Both are more expensive than H&M and others that have been mentioned so far, but cheaper than BR, J Crew and Anthropoloy. I love them both; they are on the trendier side (while I consider BR and J Crew a bit more on the classic side and Anthropology more on the boho side) but especially Express has great basics in lots of colors as well, e.g. camis and button down shirts.

I have a Bloomingdale's cashmere sweater, a 100% cashmere coat, and dozens of good looking shirts -- all found at our local thrift shop for the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. You have to go frequently and scour, but it is definitely worth it.

I agree with Maya that I'd rather shop sales at "expensive" stores. Also, many times the so called low price stores are not really lower priced. The exact same item can be much more expensive at Pennys than Nordstroms, I've found.
Example: Yesterday I looked at Converse All Stars at Nordies and they were (regular price) $39.99...the same price as Target. Today's ads were full of shoes. Famous Footwear's Converse All Stars were $44.99 and pictured the same charcoal and navy pairs I saw at Nordies.

Marshalls seems to be my go to store for best quality at the best price. I have not had luck with stores like H&M...but maybe because there isn't one near me, so I don't check it out regularly.

H&M I feel always has low/moderately priced clothes without sales. Other than that, I basically scour sales racks. I'm at the point where I have more clothes than I need so I'm not shopping for much. I really like Marshalls for shoes but I have discovered that the quality of Marshalls is very regional.

Definitely H&M. I love Target in theory but whenever I go to try anything on, it just doesn't seem to fit me very well. Wish it did because I would love to shop there more. They also have the best shoes, but my fussy feet won't hear of it.

I am not so enthusiastic about Zara. I have never found anything there, despite repeated attempts, and it isn't even really inexpensive. I think overall I prefer to go to "expensive" stores and raid the sale section, or go to places like TJ Maxx, Marhsalls, and Century 21.

Online, SmartBargans.com is also a good place to get deals.

Zara (but Zara is not always inexpensive - it's all about value) and H&M. But for my clients, all of the above accept Target. Good suggestions

I agree with all!

Right now my go to bargain shopping locale is Target. I particularly like how they are constantly rotating styles. There is something new everytime I go!

I also get alot of stuff at Marshall's and TJ Maxx, because you can get brand name things from last season for fraction of the original cost.

Other places I visit are Gap, American Eagle, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Old Navy, Anne Taylor Loft (sale).

target, h&m, consignment shops (you can get higher priced, brand name things for a fraction of the cost!), goodwill, walmart, my mom's closet

yes, the bottom of the barrel...but thanks to angie's advice, a keen eye and ruthless budget, i look just as polished as everyone else. over time, i've created a fun, eclectic, euro looking wardrobe, with no hang-ups about recycled clothing or status symbols. it is possible to be both fab AND frugal!

i'm a sucker for target and h&m, and lately american eagle has been pretty solid for basic, classic stuff if you're into the prep look - which i sort of am! urban outfitters can get pricy, but the clearance section is worth going over for some trendy pieces to update your look. hope that helps!

BR, J crew, and anthropologie are my fav shops, but I would call them moderately high price stores. The obvious choice for favorite low price shop is forever 21, but I can't think of any others that I really love. Any suggestions?
