Echoing what Tracina said; a couple of my clients sell premium denim, and they have been told no more BF jeans will be in the offing. The biggest sellers are bootcut, and skinny, with the newest offering being what is called a Barely Bootcut or Skinny Bootcut, depending on brand. There is even a Demi Bootcut. The range of made to order, where you are measured or scanned will be increasing. The age of computerized cutting and sewing is upon us in a big way, so expect to have form fitting jeans that have the comfort factor of a BF.

I recently had a pair of jeans made by a local tailor. Premium denim made from American or Egyptian cotton, they will duplicate any brand out there, no names of course, and incorporate all the tricks of seam placement, to make the customer look his or her best. All for considerably less than off the shelf premium jeans.

Maybe check out a tailor in your area and make inquiries. I've been told a pair of your husband's or boyfriend's jeans can be tailor altered to fit the female form. Now, that would be a true BF jean. But, you still won't catch me in a pair!!

Cheers

Just pack them away ... don't be too hasty. That's quite the collection of premium denim!

I have a similar issue with my Frye boots. I bought 3 pairs in the last 2 years because I was *positive* that jeggings and oversized tops would be my uniform for the rest of my life. Except that I've been wearing nothing but straight jeans and BFs since early September. Technically, my straight jeans tuck into my Fryes just fine, but it's a bit too much scrunch for my taste. I'm petrified to put them on eBay because I'm sure I'll regret it once they're gone!

Marley, I am actually drooling as I read your list.

That is a great looking jean capsule.
Unless the washes and cuts are really dated I would hang on to the best 1/2 dozen for a while longer.

BF's and slouchy skinnies - that's all I wear. It fits my lifestyle - which is primarilly work out of my home - and volunteer at an animal shelter.

Off the top of my head, here's what I also have in my "jeans capsule!"

1 - J Jean cobalt blue skinny
2 - Paige skinnies (different washes)
1 - Paige dark blue jegging
1 - True Religion skinny
1 - Paige boot-cut
2 - COH boot-cut
1 - COH flared
1 - Hudson black super flared
1 - Hudson black skinny
1 - 7 skinny
2 - 7 boot-cuts

Good Grief - this is embarrassing! I have tried all of them on and they all fit well. They vary is rises and thickness of denim, but they are all made really well.

I also have a few "stray" skinnies - Express, UO, etc. . . .

I honestly have not worn a single pair of the jeans (listed above) for over a year. They just don't seem to fit my style - let alone my lifestyle! Probably the best thing to do is to pack them away somewhere, I guess. Rae - which ones of the brands listed do you think would be easy to sell if I were to put some of them on e-bay???

Another vote for save the best of the lot and put them in an accessible location. They sound like good quality classic jeans, so I think you may eventually have a need for them again.

The rest, store in a plastic bin in the garage/attic/etc., and re-evaluate next year. Or sell/donate them if you don't space.

I am still wearing them. In fact, I'm wearing my AE light grey pair today. They are part of my formula outfits and indispensable with boots, which I'l be wearing through May for weather reasons and after that because I wear boots all summer.

I hope skinnies and jeggings are not "out" now!

So I say save the ones you love and use, at least.

Hehe...I was thinking the same thing, what jeans ARE you wearing? I guess we've deciphered that it's probably BF jeans. I would definitely hold on to a few different styles. I think you'll come back to them eventually, and they are high end so no need to purchase them over again. Keep the neutral, non patterned or non-fad ones.

How many are we talking? I was thinking keep the best and most flattering, and resell the rest. Premium denim brands fall in and out of favor... You may want to ebay or consign while the demand is still high. Just an idea!

I'm of two opinions. First (and the option that benefits me the most) is to pack them up and ship them to me! I'm always looking for Premium jeans without the premium price and have been slowly replacing my non premium jeans with premium ones. Plus BF and Slouchy don't work on me so Skinny, Strait and Boot cut are my go-to styles. While I would recommend that option for my sake only, in reality I would go with option number 2. And that is putting them in some sort of under the bed/garage storage and then when you feel like pulling them out it's like Christmas and you've got all these great jeans that you've forgotten and you cant wait to wear them again.

I think you should hang on to them. Those are mostly classics that won't go out of style - in fact, most people are still wearing them. You may decide you want to go back to them in the near future. Box them up if you have to and put them under the bed or in some other storage area.

I would keep them. I was shopping in a french jean store the other day (In Saint Martin). I was looking for a BF style and the SA said they aren't being made any longer. He said the trend is over and now all they get in are straight and skinny. I tried on a pair of Diesels that were so tight in the leg I couldn't get close to a skinny BF look by sizing up.

I have not been wearing my fuller, more flared bootcuts much in the last year, but I'm not getting rid of them. They fit and look good and are in terrific shape, so I'm hanging on to them. I like having a variety of jean styles.

Wow, you are a TOTAL BF convert! That's amazing.

I think I would be, except our weather means I've needed the jeggings for tucking into boots. But I only wear them in winter.

My solution is to switch them to another storage space in the season I don't wear them. I do this with all my out of season clothing.

In your case, I think I would save them in a different location, at least the best ones. Angie says skinnies have become a classic, pretty much, and straight legs certainly are. So you might tire of the BF silhouette and it would be nice to have these on reserve.

So hard to say for someone else. If it was me I'd keep some for sure. I'd keep the best ones - for me that would be anything in a plain, dark-wash.

Have you tried them all on to see how you feel in them? Even if you don't want to wear them at the moment you should still feel as though they are flattering - if you don't then maybe you are better off without them.

If you have the storage space, I say keep them. I'm feeling the same way about my work trousers - and to a smaller extent my bootcut jeans. But everything fits well and is not worn out or out of style, so they stay for now. Maybe if 2 or 3 years pass and they still don't get any wear, I'll rethink it.

I've been going through my clothes the last few days and took a long hard look at all of my jeans. I love jeans (I wear them almost everyday) and I've got a lot of them - but I have not worn a pair of skinnies, jeggings, boot-cuts, straight-legs, or flared for over a year - and I'm wondering if I should get rid of them?

Part of my hesitation is that they are premium denim and I spent good money on them - part of my hesitation is that I may (in a year or so )want to start wearing them again(who knows what the style will be then, or if I'm missing them and want to try them out again?) - and part of my hesitation is just "letting go" for fear of not ever being able to replace them again with the same quality as the ones that I have! My income level has dropped into the basement since I bought all of these jeans and I really don't anticipate ever being able (or wanting) to spend that kind of money on jeans again - so . . . I'm not sure what to do.

I *do know that I need to move them out of the place where I keep them now, because they are taking up a lot of room in prime real estate space and that's ridiculous considering that I'm not wearing them!

Any thoughts from those of you who have so fallen in love (like me) with your BFs and slouchy skinnies that you no longer wear any other style of jean?

Thank you!
