I have several Kettlewell things. They're good quality and I like that I can get "my colors" even if they're not trending.
They can be pretty slow to arrive since they're coming from England, but idc about that.

Thank you Zaeobi and Cardiff Girl. I’ve done well with Boden in the past so I feel more adventurous. The array of colors at Kettlewell are tempting.

Both of those companies started life in the uk and have grown from there.l can’t vouch for where they get their stock from nowadays but their websites should be able to help in that regard.Seasalt quality is great ,all my raincoats come from them and l have no complaints so far.l haven’t bought anything from Kettlewell but l think it is well regarded by people who have.Obviously l can’t comment on the cost of ordering\returns from abroad but that is the one thing that l would be wary of.

Haha yes, I have a lot of Seasalt Cornwall in my wardrobe! I often overlooked them when I was actually in the UK, but now appreciate their moodier colours & simple cuts in natural fibres (often cotton/ merino/ linen) with free worldwide shipping!
Fun fact: I was actually born just next to Cornwall (in Devonshire)

Kettlewell I've bought from less so because, although the colours are *exactly* right (I had my personal colour analysis done in the UK, so my stylist pointed me there), they're fairly expensive for what is mostly synthetic fibres! As a result, I only have a few bottoms & a matching merino scarf/ hat from them.

My stance on buying clothing made in other countries is perhaps different to many here since I am actually of South Asian heritage, having bought western brands resold in clothing markets there But Seasalt Cornwall's blog states they use GOTS cotton.

I think maybe Zaeobi likes them too? She definitely likes Seasalt Cornwall so you would have heard of the latter in this forum from her.
I bought gifts for my 2 UK-born nephews ( now 17 and 15, I no longer give gifts) from Seasalt Cornwall, there were some nice children’s clothes and I could get them delivered to where they live in Oxfordshire.
I have Cornish ancestors also and have loved my trips there. It has quite an NZ connection- lots of our founding settlers came from there and NZ native plants grow really well there so are seen in places like the Lost Gardens of Heligan which I would love to visit one day.

I believe suntiger has garments from Kettlewell. I believe she liked them because she could get colours to exact specifications.

Carla, Kettlewell is made in a couple of Asian countries and sold from Chard. I don't remember about Seasalt, but I thinking they claim their clothes are made in Cornwall. It's been a while since I looked.

Carrier looks interesting--all made in Norfolk.

Kettlewell does color typing online, and in the catalogue each each item is described as sp, su, wi, au, and some are two, such as sp/au.

http://www.kettlewellcolours.com
http://www.houseofcolour.com to book an appointment.

I think it was one of the blogs that featured them.

Are the garments made in those areas, or simply sold from those places? Made in Bangladesh, but sold from Cornwall wouldn’t be my choice, but if it’s a cottage industry, it could be fun to source some garments from those vendors.

I’m intrigued by Carrier Co.https://ca.carriercompany.co.uk/

Small catalogue arrived today from Kettlewell, "Live Life in Color." Looks interesting--I think I've seen that name before.

Looked it up--headquarters is in Chard, Somerset, UK. Hmm.

I check the map, Chard is 9 miles from Puckington. I've been to Puckington--it's where my paternal great-grandfather was from. I suspect I've been to Chard as well.

Lots of colors, reasonable prices.

I've been tempted by a catalogue from Cornwall, Seasalt. I think it's been mentioned here. Cornwall, home of my maternal great-grandfather. I like the look of some of the items.

So, is an ancestral connection to a town enough reason to buy something from a company based in that town?

Sorry about this, but Mr. Maven has bought a high speed scanner and is going through boxes and boxes of old photos and scanning hundreds, soon to be thousands. Looking at myself age 40-something. Should have appreciated what I had then instead of worrying about flaws I'd settle for now.

Oh, I've been to Cornwall as well. Maybe the same trip.
