I'm late to this conversation, but in the US have had wonderful customer service experiences with barenecessities.com
Some models fit differently from color to color (looking at you, Panache Envy!) so being able to try and return is key.

Hi Carol,

I'm not sure about how exactly to answer your question, but the site HerRoom has a lot of fantastic resources for bra fitting:

https://www.herroom.com/bra-fitting-center/

Some of the things I've really found helpful and interesting are the articles on Bra Styles and Breast Anatomy. There's a lot more to this than I realized before, and it makes sense now why I favor certain styles. It helps me when I start searching for something new, too.

...I guess I can get a fitting again. There are so many websites online these days where you can put in your measurements and answer a few questions, and get your size. But a real fitting is probably better!!!

But again, I was wondering about the shell of the cup. I will have to watch what I buy, but reading online, I see other women have this problem. Thanks for your input, everyone!

I agree with April, Pheobe and Angie. I highly recommend a professional bra fitting. I was wearing the wrong size and feel so much better.

Not an expert but I believe that "lined" addresses the coverage anxiety you describe, "molded" is a formed to encourage a specific shape

You can find all kinds of misinformation regarding bra construction but I think trusted experts would say that "molded" bras are the kind that almost stand up on their own, while "contour" bras go with your body's contours.

And yes, you can find sites that will say the exact opposite.

Ironically, today's blog post is on bras. And I am in the market for a bra or two. Never mind that I'm looking at cheaper brands--I tend to wear and toss after a year, rather than spend $200 and keep it for years.

I have a question...what about linings? I never see this come up. I will only wear an unlined bra, aka a soft bra, in the home. Outside, I'm too uncomfortable and worried that parts of my anatomy will poke through the bra. So my typical bra would be a t-shirt bra with sort of a "shell," a molded cup that is thick enough to hide anatomy, but not thick enough to count as padding for a push-up bra.

I seem to see:
unlined
lined with an extra layer
molded cup
padded cup.

These seem to go from thinnest to thickest. Here is an ad that I'm not sure about. An unlined, molded cup. I guess I'm not sure the difference between lined and molded, and which provides more thickness/coverage.
