I think we have both trends coming. Mad Men has started the pointed toe coming back with the 50's look and chunky heeled loafers have been hovering in the background for about 2 years now and this year I see an increase in choices. I have been waiting for choices as I love the chunky loafer for my heavy legs. So I have been hovering, watching and waiting and soon I will pounce all over a pair of loafers ...Ideally looking for a heeled penny loafer (if anyone sees one).

It's funny, Angie, I feel like all I've seen recently has been refined. Well, refined and tall boots, but for shoes proper, it's all been very streamlined.

That may have been on my blog post, Janet :)

Shoes are definitely becoming more refined again. LOVE that!

I'll be watching shoe trends too. Profiles have definitely been chunkier over the past few years, and I do like shoes with some substance, up to a point. I don't really want substantial heels, wedges, and small platforms to go away -- I'm a little too invested in those styles!

I remember reading somewhere that slimmer, less chunky profiles will be set to make a comeback -- pointier toes, thinner heels, smaller platforms, kitten heels... I don't know. I saw a fashion blogger wearing a very pointed toe pump recently and it looked very cool, even though the current trend would say those shoes are dated. Hmmm, would they be dated, or ahead of the curve?

Loafers are a nice style and I like them. But the last 2 years of so all I see it's chunky platformes . As in huge. Why? ( I blame Louboutin for that)
But I seem to see a slighter improvement recently , to more delicate platforms and shapes. Heeled loafers and oxfords were big last fall and I believe they are very on trend

My first thought when buying shoes is always comfort and never trend. Not sure on the trends but if it suits your style I would go with them. Loafers are coming back. Don't the bigger shoes remind you of the 90s? Its all coming back.

(I guess I have shoes on the brain today.) Recently I find myself attracted to chunky loafers and bigger shoes, quite different than the ballet flats that have been my go-to shoe for the last couple years. What’s happening in fashion as far as this goes? I know that oxfords have been a trend for a while, but most of them have been lower-profile and not the more masculine silhouettes I’m finding appealing.
