Beth Ann on "Westward Ho!"

Heading to bed, having packed up all my clothing! I'm saving tomorrow for finalizing the food prep and tidying the house. I start my semester at the university two days after my return, so I need to hit the ground running when I get back. I'll be wearing FFBO for the first week! You know, the photos really help when I'm crushed for time. I simply scroll through and make a selection.

E: You see exactly what drew me to the anorak in the first place! Color is also a way to maintain my dressier persona in a decidedly down to earth environments!

Una: These outfits will work well for MOTG outfits in early autumn, too. I wish I had duplicated the Levis and the black skinnies!

Shevia: I'm taking 3 hats -- one with a wider brim than this one, for longer hikes. I believe in sun protection and I find hats fun, even if no one, and I mean no one I know wears anything beyond a athletic cap. I look best in over the top confections from the late 19th, early 20th century. Tosca, anyone? I'll have to make do with a jaunty sun hat for now!

Missey: My hiking capris and pants are lightweight tech fabric -- quite breathable, which should help. The forecast is for drier and cooler next week, but, of course, things change!

Joy: I was in this area in......1975. I'm thinking things have changed a bit, but I'm so excited to return and am hoping to see Elk, Moose and Bison.... from a safe distance.

Claire: You are queen capsule, so I appreciate your thumbs up! Of course, My capsule is far from small, but a girl has to have choices!

Thanks, HJ. Even though we think less about fashion on a vacation like this, I have been aware that I'm actually going to be "in public" a good portion of the time. Now that I've got the clothing down, I'm hoping I can manage to shower frequently enough to smell decent, too!

Beth Ann, you've done such a fantastic job putting together this travel wardrobe. You look terrific in all of these outfits. I agree with others the anorak should go with you. I don't think a sweater and a jacket fill the same need--wind goes through the sweater. And the color is so great on you and with the tops you're taking. Your look so good in your skinnies, and I love your boots, too. Have fun!

Oh Beth Ann, you will be the best dressed person out there. What a great capsule. There is not a single outfit I don't like. The new T with the flower is just the thing for your gorgeous personality. How perfect! I love the raspberry jacket. Keep it for casual as long as possible. I totally get the fit/era of it, but it doesn't deserve to be put out to pasture until you find something better. I love you in the skinny and rolled bottoms too. You look so good!

You will be in the mountains and it can get cold...like frosty...even in August. It looks like you have a good number of layering possibilities. Your trip sounds fabulous. I miss the days of tent camping in Yellowstone and the National Forests in Wyoming. Watch out for those bison and bears :). Have a wonderful time. You may be in Yellowstone to see the elk congregating and facing off over domination. Watch for this at dusk in open stream valleys and listen for the bellowing.

Aida: sounds like the anorak has been spared, at least for the time being. I love the mixed-media effect of the black jacket in #13, but it doesn't show up in photos. It's rather "zella-esque." This is my "soccer and basketball game" jacket.

Angie: Thanks so much for chiming in for two huge posts in one day! I do love raspberry -- it feels like a very grown up pink, or like a more playful sister to red.

Gaylene: I'm putting that space in the pop up camper to good use! We'll be able to laundry once in the two week trip, but I'd rather not have to do 4 loads. Packing this way means that we can focus laundry on sweaty athletic gear, socks and undies, leaving more time for fun!

Ann: Ha! Too true -- but the hat on the stand is my garden party hat, and it gets very put out when the setting isn't all orchids and sweet tea!

Suz: You have the jist of my issues with the anorak. They are often high-waisted (not the best when you're busty), but this one dates to an error of shrunken jackets. I would love to find a long drapey one. The black anorak in #8 is the next size up. I purchased both right before I joined YLF. I guess I thought of the black as a outdoor jacket, and the raspberry as an indoor one. That was in the days I used to buy the smallest size possible. Sigh. Still, is is comfortable. It's proportions are more awkward when zipped, but it does zip.

PLONK!!!!!!

Seriously, Beth Ann, you look absolutely stunning in these outfits. I can't believe how well put together you are for this trip. I adore that tee in the first photo on you. What a sensational colour and so, so elegant. DO keep the anorak if it is not uncomfortable -- I see what you say about the proportions but it's such a good match and fabulous with the tee and worn open like this it does not announce itself as the wrong size. The shell in #3/4 is equally lovely. And stuff like that takes no room to pack anyway -- and is always good to have just in case.

Top in #5 is also lovely on you.

You look fantastic in the skinnies.

You are going to have one heck of an amazing trip!!!

Thank you for the inspiration! And have fun!!! Send us a "postcard."

Fun! For the anorak, I think it's worth wearing for the trip. You can get a good feel for it, and decide when you return whether you want to keep it or not. It doesn't look bad at all, though I get your feeling in wanting a longer one. The cardigan seems like a different role than the anorak, since you could wear the anorak against light rain or wind while outside yes? That new top in #1 is lovely on you, as is the gorgeous top in #15! All of your outfits look good and perfect for the types of activities you'll be doing. The techie jacket in #13 is super.

This is the second of the travel capsules for my Western Adventure, commencing at dawn on Saturday! In the first, http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....y-mountain, I focused on hiking/rafting/camping gear, necessary for the 6 days we will be camping without electricity in the national parks. This capsule is for the days of travel to and from --- including time at Rushmore, Cody (going to a museum there) and Jackson Hole. These outfits will take me out to eat, shopping and sight seeing, and might see some simple boardwalk hiking.

It looks like the weather will be wonderful. Mostly sunny and cool --- highs from 58 to 72. Lows dipping down to..........32F in Yellowstone.

1/2: Black skinnies (full length, just rolled here) and a new Apt. 9 top (just in the stores). In #2 I'm wearing an anorak that I think is too poor a fit to make the trip. It's too short waisted and short -- it might have worked in a larger size, but even then the proprotions would be off (and it's two years old anyway). Donate the jacket, or wear it for color and donate after the trip?

3/4: I love this simple shell --- stays crisp and floaty even when I'm not feeling crisp. I'd wear this in town on the warmest day. Yes, at 70 degrees I can do sleeveless. I run quite warm. The anorak appears again -- and is not pleasing me.

5: Another floaty top -- which I love. Makes another appearance in 10 and 14. I like these fabrics for warmer days, or days in the car (my DH likes to keep things cool when he drives.

6. A striped top that makes an appearance again in #11

7-10 My ON bf jeans. These are still warm from the dryer -- yep DH dried them (hey, he does the laundry). They'll loosen up in 30 minutes, though. Here I'm pairing them with the same tops again, adding a cotton cardi. Perhaps the sweater in #7 should go instead of the anorak?

11-13 Forum members wisely suggested adding a sweater and more long pants, so I've added my Levi skinnies (love em, I should duplicate) and I've rolled them and paired them with my Clarks booties, which have lots of support and will work for walking and shorter hikes. Love these! I'm placed a close up photo at the end. The mixed-media fleece in #13 is practical, but refined, which I like.

14-15 The bf shorts will make an appearance, in case I want something casual for warmer days. These shorts will also work with my tech tops from the other capsule and my Sketchers.

16 Close up of my Clarks

Pardon some of the wacky and frazzled expressions. I'm running out of hours! I needed to do this post for me, however. Having tried and viewed the combinations, I'll be able to dress without a mirror and any time to hem and haw about it. I welcome any suggestions!

Going to the grocery store for last minute provisions! Catch you in after dinner -- once i figure out what we're eating!
