I checked this morning and the price on the Fryes had gone down another $35 (now 60% off). Very very tempting. Rae, did you just get Fryes? The color of the Joseph Seibel is very tempting. And the one review said they were comfy and utilitarian. Perfect for me. And, they're very cool, IMO. But the Ariats have some kind of innersole technology, and a rubber sole that makes them genuinely fabulous. I wear them to our ballroom dancing class. I found the Fryes at 50% off. That is seriously tempting! Janet, Wow! Three pairs! I love your turquoise boots, BTW. I have several pairs of Frye boots so I know the quality is great. I'm just not decided about the height, for one thing, and the color for another. They're supposed to be charcoal, but they really look black to me. Not sure if they're cowboy or cowboy influenced, but I like them just the same. I like both #1 and #2, and it's hard to pick a favorite. I'd have to go with #2 as my fav, but I do think #1 looks more cowboy. I prefer the Fryes to the Seibels -- I like the simpler detailing and the color better. I have them too (the Seychelles -- and I love them and find them comfy, but I do not have Ariats, so I don't know what I am missing -- haha). Since you are really looking for gray, I am inclined to go with #2. Although not truly western, they certainly have that vibe, and I think they seem to fit the color you want. I love the pale tone of them and think they would be so fabulous into spring. I don't really know your whole style, though, and the Fryes look like they might be a little metallic and perhaps edgy? Does that fit your vibe better? Not sure you can go wrong with either one or two -- just depends on whether you want an edgier look or a softer one. I have a pair of basic brown Ariat boots, with a 12 inch shaft. They are fabulously comfortable. Since my hair went silver last year, I've been wanting some grey boots. I can't see that Ariat makes any so I've been expanding my search. In 1 and 2 are possibilities: 1) Frye boots in Charcoal. They are quite dark. Frye's might be more genuine western boots, but these are short. I have found these with a very steep discount, so of course I'm considering them. 2) Joseph Seibel in Stone/Ash. The color is more like my hair, but these are not genuine western boots, just western influenced. 3) Seychelles I got a month or so ago. Not really western at all, but they do "go with" my hair. They are not as comfortable as the Ariats. 4) Ariat western boots - just like my boots. So so fab. What do you think of 1 and 2? Should I consider them at all?
