Angie - thanks! Great pants for sure. I wish I needed black pair, but I have something similar that is only very slightly inferior.

Thaks, slim cat and Carol! Nice to see you both :)

suntiger - there is not too much difference between what I wear to wfh vs going into the office. I am more likely to wear stuff like blazers and dressier pants for the latter, but not always. For instance, today I'm in the office an am wearing a sweater and medium-wash jeans, mostly because I am going to a movie after and wanted to be comfortable all day. Anyway, I can definitely mix the dressier pieces in at home, provided they don't feel too tight. That said, I think I won't wear dresses or skirts at home in the winter much, if at all, because I'm not keen on wearing tights at home. I have already limited purchase of winter iterations of those, though.

Yay, Christina! You had a lot going on last year, made it through well, and can now REFRESH - even it means shopping your fun and fab closet. WELL DONE :)

Yay for Liverpool pants and jeans. My WFH clients adore them! I can imagine a good fit for you in many ways. Milk it.

Jenni - nice to see you too! I have been around but not motivated to post for various reasons (obsessed with some other stuff lately, not in a bad way). Ponte is appealing because it is so warm and comfy. I didn't have enough winter pants that were not corduroy.

LaPed - thank you! My hair color was done in December, so quite new. I did post after, but that would have been easy to miss. I have been on a pink kick this year, though I've had this sweater for longer. "Happy magpie" is a good description--I would never edit my wardrobe so much that I edit that aspect out of it. And yes, the temptation to add things back after culling is very strong, so I have to be careful about the slow attrition.

Jaime, I think high rises have been part of my problem with fit lately. I do like a higher rise on my, but high rise ON ME is probably lower than what the industry calls high rise in most cases.

That bold pink is so pretty on you. Love the hair too (I remember when you went bob, but I think the colour is new?). From everything I've seen, I think that happy magpie element is key to your style. A pop of colour, a fun print, etc. So by all means don't cull too much! You'd almost certainly just end up adding new pieces to satisfy that need for a bit of flash. Maybe a shop your closet challenge is in order?

So lovely to see you! I have missed seeing you. I am sure it was a hard year recovering from your loss.
Your hair is looking wonderful.
And high five on the ponte pants! I love them too. For the days at home caring for my baby granddaughter, and for the weekends, my black ponte pants were so warm and comfy. I wore them 68 times last year! That’s over 2 months! In fact they were my most worn pants in 2022- not precious if baby food spilt on them. I also like how they feel around my waist which has not shrunk as much as bust and hips have with my weight loss.
I have another fancier pair with leather patches that I wear to work and those had 38 wears.
I try to slowly reduce my wardrobe size with attrition also. I still fall in love with clothes.

Suz, yes, I think it's going to be a time thing in terms of weeding. I need to work on not adding as much, which is... harder for me. I really don't have wardrobe holes. I have a moderate size hold pile, mostly to see if things that were once fine may feel more comfortable again if I do lose weight.

Guilty as charged with focusing on new items I actually use a Collection in Finds to remind me about which older items I have, so I can try to incorporate them into my daily outfits. I remove items from the group as I wear them. That is as close as I get to formal outfit planning, as I tend to go with my gut each morning, when all is said and done. If something lingers in the Collection all season without being worn, that tells me something, though I have taken that with a grain of salt since covid. Things are more stable now, so I need to pay attention again to what I never wear.

Today's outfit is a good mix (sweater a few years old, shoes a year or so old, pants bought late last winter but never worn till today because they hadn't been hemmed.)

Minaminu, that's a good idea too! I am not much of a tracker, but I'll at least take pictures on my office days and get a sense of what I gravitate towards.

The pants look great on you, Christina! They are perfect for WFH (or office!) I'm off to take mine to the alterationist (finally!) today....

If you have the storage space and don't feel oppressed by the items in your closet, then why not allow time to do the work of weeding? Some things will cease to spark joy if you wait. Others if you wear them and find them uncomfortable or more ill fitting than you remembered (or more ill fitting, with body changes). I am going through a similar process with my big edit. Last fall, I got to a certain point and then stalled...I have finally added some items in the last week or two to the donations pile. I wore them a bit and decided -- nope! Or I didn't wear them and that convinced me.

I think we have a similar pattern in the sense of really wearing our newest clothing hard, with some tendency to neglect the older items. Sometimes I think the best solution for me would be to have a very tight wardrobe and simply replace about half of it each year. I need to do some number crunching. On first thought, it sounds as if that would be horrible for the environment. But on second thought, maybe not so much. I'd be keeping a smaller closet and donating or possibly selling a bunch of last season's lightly worn clothes (good for others). And satisfying my need for variety in a different way than a deep closet can satisfy it. But then again, what if I don't like a new season's offerings or the colours are wrong or I don't want to spend that much time shopping every year? It's tricky....

Helena - yes, lots of options DO make me happy, and I have the space. But I've gotten to a point where I think I could do with maybe 10% fewer options. Everything I have is pretty well curated, for a large wardrobe, though--I've already removed most of the things that no longer suit my style, are worn out or don't fit well. (At least for winter. I anticipate a smallish purge of summer items, since this wear out faster.) This is why I think I need an approach of a attrition and shopping less.

Thanks, Sisi! These Boden pants are great. It's sad that lot of their rises have been too high for me lately--these are high but still doable. (12.6 in as opposed to 14 in+! Those would be up at my bra line!)

Hi all! I won't bother reviewing 2022. It was a year of healing for me. I probably shopped more than I ought to, for my current lifestyle. I bought a lot of replacement coats and new athletic wear. Anyway, I prefer to focus on the future right now.

Here is my current lifestyle:

Working at home 3x week, at office 2x week (if that, sometimes I skip because literally no one is tracking or cares). I dress up a bit to WFH (jeans or comfy pants and a top, maybe a dress in summer, no sweatpants). I like the feeling of changing at the end of the day, to work out or to relax. It demarcates the end of the work day for me.

We are back to going out 2-3x a week, mostly to casual stuff like movies, but sometimes the theater

We occasionally have somewhat dressy events as part of our Met Museum membership

In my new home, my wardrobe certainly fits, with a switch out between high winter and high summer items. It's more than I need with no longer going to the office 5x week, but there are pieces I can't bear to get rid of because I just like them a lot. Too much of it sparks joy, to borrow from Kondo. Mind you, I HAVE gotten rid of a lot, and I have plans to send at least two boxes to ThreadUp, and plan to donate some other stuff.

I have had some subtle changes to my body, and have been buying new pants for those. I have slimmed down in my hips and legs due to lots of Pilates, but not really lost weight because I did not feel ready to diet while grieving. My tummy tends to bloat a lot, and that area has not slimmed like my lower half. I tend to buy pants and think they're comfortable enough, and then find they're not comfortable when I bloat. I can't bear to wear anything uncomfortable to WFH. Because of this, ponte is my go-to fabric right now, especially thanks to Angie recommending Liverpool brand. (I plan to kick up my exercise and diet a notch to see if I can actually shed some weight, but I don't know how successful I will be.)

Aside from fulfilling that immediate comfy pants need, I am looking for a black blazer, and that's about it... I am set on essentials. I want to upgrade my pajama selection, but that can be done over time. Otherwise, I want to wear out or otherwise decide to pass on things I have. I do find I can pick away at my wardrobe bit by bit.

I am likely to continue to see things I want to buy in a kind of magpie way, though. This is always my struggle. I am good about doing one in, one out, but that doesn't decrease the size of my wardrobe... I still think gradual attrition is the way to go, though. I have a high tolerance for a large wardrobe with lots of options, but I think I need to scale back the going outside the house options somewhat.

Anyway, thanks for reading my musings. Any advice is always appreciated. Here is a work from office outfit of the day with some other ponte pants.
