Just in the interest of accuracy - I stated above that I was down to the bottom of my normal range; actually I think it is in the middle.
I don't feel well enough to exercise yet - still blowing my nose a lot!

I forgot to mention that I am taking Acai Berry again. I feel like I have more energy when I take it, and Costco had it for a good price.

Susan- it's MediFast
http://www.medifast1.com/?campaign=buzz23

Anne- sorry you're not feeling well- hope you're up to exercising soon.

Shana- that's great that you dropped a size!

Medusa- I wish that I could say it's easier for me to eat more, but I actually have a really hard time with it. I have to readjust my go-to meals to have more calories, and that just seems insane when I am trying to loose weight!

Michelle- I often have days when I feel like a whale. You're not alone! Like Sarah said- it is mental. I hope the party goes well.

Hanna I'd be concerned about not drinking and running, too. I think Sarah had a good suggestion of running before dawn or after dark so that you can get your fluids and some food in.

My daughter was showing me her bicep today. She said it felt weird. I think she thought it was getting too big (HA!). I showed her my arm. I hadn't noticed, but I can now feel both the bicep and the tricep. Cool!

Way to go everyone! I have to lose the 4 pounds I have gained this summer. How did I gain weight when I have been doing all this running? Urghhh. I think it might have to do with too many meals where I just let myself go. At my age, I just can't do that....or eat 3 cake donuts at a time. Laura and Kristen-what is MF?

Well Done Khris, Bella, Laura and Shana (and the rest of you who are working so hard.

I seemed to have reached my goal (ie dropped to the bottom on my "normal" range) in just a week by dint of getting sick! Was down with the flu last week, couldn't taste anything for a few days.

Of course I am just as/if not more unfit and flabby so need to work on throwing off the last of the sniffles and getting back to exercise.

Glad to hear that everyone is making so much progress! I have been working out like a MADWOMAN for the past several weeks - hitting the gym 4 days a week: 2 days of weights plus elliptical and 2 days of pilates or yoga plus elliptical. I've had to adjust my workouts because of my joint pain but instead of focusing so much on what I cannot do (absolutely cannot run for example but elliptical or bike is O.K.), I am shifting my energy to what I can do. I also just got my first ipod and I have to admit that it does make a difference!

I've only lost a couple of pounds (though I am not consistently weighing in) but I did drop a dress size (remember, I'm just 5')! I ordered three dresses from ATL during their F&F sale a few weeks back in my regular size and I ended up exchanging for the next smaller size!!! That felt great. Of course I am headed to my in-laws this week and I'll be eating tons of awesome German food so who knows where I will be in a few weeks. Hopefully I can do lots of walking to compensate!

Great job, everyone! Khris, congratulations on realizing that you weren't eating enough.

I've had the same experience. It's so easy to think that if eating less helps you lose weight, eating EVEN less will help you lose MORE weight. But bodies are clever little sausages (as Angie might say) and don't take kindly to a big cutback.

Doesn't it feel great to eat more and lose weight faster?

You can do it, Michelle! I think every woman who is trying to lose weight/has lost weight still feels like a whale from time to time. I'm down 60 pounds and roughly four sizes from where I started and somedays I still feel the very same way about myself that I did two years ago. It's a mental battle more than anything else. I know you can do it and I'm proud of you for taking charge of your health like you are. *hugs*

Well done, all you ladies!!
I'm still plugging away, but fell off the wagon with the workouts last week. I started them up again on Friday and promptly went away for the weekend, so I'll need to be extra-diligent this week. Unfortunately I'm in a particularly self-conscious phase at the moment where I feel whale-like at all times, which complicates matters.
My main goal this week is to keep eating healthy options even as I prepare all kinds of food for a party I'm hosting on the weekend (it's a tongue-in-cheek retirement party for McClure, more on that later. ). There will be much baking and preparing of appetizers this week, which poses a challenge, but I'm hoping to behave myself and exert some willpower while still getting some exercise in. I truly hope I'm able to drop some weight while in training for the new guide dog, too.

you guys are all so inspirational, and doing great! keep it up!! :]

i'm starting week 4 of the couch-to-5k program today [status reports posted here at the end of every week, if anyone's interested in descriptions of my sweaty, red-faced, panting self ;): http://ohhoneyno.wordpress.com.....tion-goya/ ]. i'm nervous!

also, ramadan starts next week, which means no food or water from sunrise to sunset. i'm not sure how the training will go then, especially since it's for a month and so impacts the entire second half of c25k. i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the encouragement, Laura. You're doing great too; sounds like you're getting the hang of MF. A pound at a time is a great way to lose it, because then it will STAY OFF. That's harder to do than it sounds, as you know.

It's a WW/shopping date for when you hit goal! I've been looking at boots all over but haven't found ones I'm in love with yet -- of course, they're not fully out yet so there are still many more to come. And clearly, I need to keep hunting for the jeans.

Well done, everyone -- very insprational!

Yes, it is well-documented that we often undereat when we are exercising regularly -- and it's equally documented that we do the reverse. It's so hard to figure out the right balance!

As for me, I've been sliding up and down and up since stopping MF -- and I've finally acknowledged that most of that has been due to not fully committing to WW or any diet plan since then. So I have issued myself a 16-week challenge to get to goal and to get my new habits sealed into a routine. I will be attending WW weekly, using my Tracker, and getting a minimum of 4 days exercise. I know if I can do those things, the weight loss will follow. It always does!

Woohoo!! That is absolutely wonderful Khris! I totally admire your dedication to staying healthy and looking great despite having to deal with everything a family brings. You are HUGE inspiration to everybody here. CONGRATULATIONS again!! You look fab!

Laura, rute, Sarah - Well done ladies, you too are a huge inspiration to me :-)

Me, on the other hand - I'm still struggling, but that is because I fell off track with my prolonged bout of bronchitis. I still have issues with fluid in my ears but I feel like I am at a point where I will not faint in the middle of a run. So tonight I hope to start my workouts again. With me, no matter how healthy or clean I eat, the inches do not go without physical exercise. I NEED to run, and lift weights. Once, I do start, I see results immediately.

Wow, that's great! I was at a plateau for so long after my vacation, but this last week I dropped four pounds (not typical). I'm at 157.4 and my goal is 140.

I am just reaffirming the importance of my diet this week, which is why I think I saw the results that I did. Diet is really 80% of weight loss, and when I eat clean (eatcleandiet.com) I see the results I want. That, plus an hour of workouts a day is my perfect formula. I just have to work on the motivation part of things from time to time.

Yay, Khris!! Congratulations! What a hugely impressive accomplishment!

I have also noticed that upping calories slightly can cause weight to drop. Counterintuitive but interesting that it happens to you, too.

As of yesterday, I dropped another 1/2 pound for a total of 3 pounds. Two more to go. Whew. It goes in small increments, but the weight DOES come off. I feel like I'm chiseling the pounds off, bit by bit. The good news is that even this small amount of weight has sent me down a dress size.

However, true confession: Last night I had a margarita AND ice cream. Didn't get on the scale this morning

Good Monday Morning!

I'm happy to report that I am exactly halfway to my goal this morning (just a couple weeks shy of a year later), and that I have figured out why I have been stuck at the same weight for the past few weeks. I wasn't eating enough for the amount of exercise that I am doing, so I upped my calories and dropped a pound- bringing my current loss to 50 pounds. That one pound was a big deal - physically and mentally. I'm feeling like I am back on track and moving forward.
