Wow everyone is doing great!

I'm still losing weight but I've had a couple of confusing set backs. After 11lbs lost I realized my scale was off by about 10lbs too low!! It almost felt as if I gained 10lbs in the few moments it to took to readjust the scale Getting fed up with that scale I bought a new digital scale and now this one shows me to be about 3 lbs more too. After doing the confusing calculations I realized I've lost about 17lbs or so... eventhough I was alot heavier than I believed to be.

I'm doing Exercise TV in the morning, cardio and weight lifting (gosh I love that channel- try Cindy's Tank Top Arms it's a killer) and walking about 2 miles in the evening after dinner. I try to be more active throughout the day, not just sitting around. I'm sticking (more or less) to a 1500calorie diet. Clothes are starting to fit better, but I'm still wearing the same size.

Do you mind if I join in? I have a strong history family history of diabetes and had gestational diabetes. Coupled with my natural apple tendencies, I know that I need to be more careful about what I eat and getting more exercise now. I would really, really like to avoid Type II diabetes if I can. The way that I feel the best is when I record everything I eat (I use myfooddiary.com) and work out. I'd like to lose and keep off 3 or 4 pounds. I know that it doesn't sound like that much, but I can't seem to do it. I lose it, and then I quickly gain it back. And, I'm one of those people that 3 or 4 pounds means a size, mostly because my waist actually becomes a waist and because I'm short.

Unfortunately, over this past term, I've hardly worked out at all, and being busy has also meant that I'm often grabbing snacks on the go (read Snickers from the vending machine). Plus, I tend to reach for cookies or something else sweet whenever I feel stressed out. My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house and relocating, so I'm definitely feeling some pressure right now.

My goal for this week is to eat a serving of fruits/veggies each time I eat (which is about 6 times/day) and to work out five times this week. And, when I feel like I'm going to pull out my hair after trying to find bank statements from eight million years ago, I want to grab an apple instead of a gallon of ice cream.

Kari, FYI, eating breakfast actually revs up your metabolism so the food you do consume the rest of the day is processed better and faster by your body. Even just a piece of fruit or a granola bar would do you a world of good -- it also helps your body absorb vitamins better, which might help with your Vitamin D deficiency.

I am doing well on my diet this week, too; the weird thing about Medifast is if you go off it very abruptly and dive right into carbs, there is always an instant water weight gain. Since that's what I did last week on my trip -- I tried to keep to my small regular meals every few hours, but I also had several cocktails and enjoyed myself immensely at the parties, OMG did I miss my starches! -- I gained 5 pounds over the week. But I'm back to the stricter Medifast plan now, and I'm already back down 2 pounds in 2 days.

*shrug* I'm not stressing over those pounds at all, because they're not really "real", you know? That said, it did teach me that when I do reach goal, a slow transition back into a rounded diet is going to be the best approach. And I am sooooo close to that , I can smell it! I really want to get there in the next month, and given my previous track record, I think it's possible. As I say on my diet forum, "Goal or Bust!"

Anne, I haven't been much better about eating breakfast - mostly I just subsist on tea, V-8, and yogurt until lunchtime. Occasionally I'll manage a bowl of cereal or oatmeal after I’ve had a lot of fluids. I guess I'm just not big on eating in the AM, but I should consume *something.* Anyway, thank you for asking & keeping me on track.

Today I did okay - I slept for 5 hours straight last night (yay!), drank LOTS of fluids, and got a full 9 servings of fruits and veggies in. But I had two drinks at happy hour when I met a friend for dinner. Well, at least I don't do that every week.

Recently I learned that I'm low on Vitamin D, which could contribute to the fatigue - I'm usually only this worn out in the dead of winter. Maybe I just need to get outside and run during the late afternoon and take the D supplements that my doctor recommended.

Weight and clothing fit has stayed even throughout the last few weeks. I must say that I'm very envious of those of you who can go down a full dress size by shaving off five pounds. It takes me a good 15-20 pounds to move between sizes because I lose or gain weight pretty evenly throughout my body, and I only start noticing a difference in fit (even in the bust) when there is a change of 10 pounds or more. (That's partly why I need to step on the scale regularly and not just assume that fitting into my clothes = maintaining a stable weight.)

That's really true, Shana. Sodium/salt really makes me hold onto water, so I watch that too. And as I have said before I am now struggling with eating enough, because if I don't I will hold onto weight. So many things affect it!

The tricky part of looking at daily weigh-ins when you start a workout regime is that your weight may not change though your body is as the fat/muscle ratio changes. I know that when I started working out, the scale didn't budge though I know I lost inches and my clothes fit differently. Just something to keep in mind....

Brianna, I can relate to the fluctuations. Sometimes I eat horribly and am shocked to drop a pound, and other times I'm eating perfectly and gain the next day. We women are soooooo good at retaining water!

No change for me this week, but not much effort, either! I did weigh myself daily and was pretty amazed at the fluctuations. Today I'm making a list of breakfasts, lunches and snacks that are super fast and sufficiently healthy so I can just choose one each day without having to think about it too much.

I hit a plateau so need to step up the exercise. That's my goal for this week - get out and walk/gym at least five times. Last week I added 1 mile to my walks so that was good! I did get back into some jeans I had not worn for a few months :)

Thanks for keeping this support group going!

My weight is even, no change, which is a victory of sorts given that I went out of town for the weekend, and activities included a real Wisconsin Friday night fish fry. The good news is that I am working out 3-4 times a week, not only the elliptical trainer as I always do, but added weights and lunges, etc. I feel good! My goal for the week is to go down one pound. Then, we head for a week of vacation, and I will simply try to maintain again.

Wonderful, congrats ladies! I think I've lost about 2-3 lbs depending on when I'm weighing myself. But my biggest achievement is that I ave been going to the gym consistently. Did my first full body workout in a while this morning. I am confident once I start incorporating strength training 2 days a week and maintain the interval cardio workouts on alternate days, I will start seeing results soon.

How are you going with breakfast Kari (before the last few days)

I haven't exactly been trying to lose weight - just cutting back on second helpings and evening snacks. I am down about 1.7 kilos (3 pounds?) in 41/2 weeks, with I regret, almost no exercise (but I went to the gym this morning)

I was not good today. I've really screwed up my sleep schedule (have been running on about 3-6 hours a night for the past two weeks.) The past few days I've been so tired that I've reverted to eating the wrong things at the wrong time. I badly need to get back on track.

I've been sticking to my diet tweaks (no chips and 9 fruits/veggies per day) and walking at least 30 minutes every day. On Friday my weight was all the way down to 113.2, but now it's TTOM so it's bounced all the way back up to 114.6. I'm sure it's mostly excess water and it'll dip back down again. This week I'm hoping to crack 112. (Goal is 108).

Hi Ladies!
I thought I'd start a new thread just to check in for those of us trying to loose weight.
Monday is my weigh in day, and I am down a pound from last week (bringing my total so far up to 45 pounds!). I'm really enjoying the gym- still just taking classes. I'm back to tracking my food most of the time and starting to feel less overstuffed from eating enough, so that's a good thing.
How is everyone else doing?
