I like colour but I don't think I am a great mixer, lots of colour and neutrals for me - or mostly black.   Suz - I think retailers go on colour binges and if the colours that you like are not around then what can you do?  Green (aside from olive) has been very hard to locate here for a long time..  Orange was everywhere about three years ago and nowhere to be seen right now.  This winter is very metallic, a fair bit of pink (bright and blush) and lots of neutrals.  I can normally find some red but it is not always available in lots of styles.  Suz on "Week One: 30x30 and a week of pics" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/week-one-30x30-and-a-week-of-pics#post-1818676 Mon, 26 Jun 2017 00:56:33 +0000 Suz 1818676@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ What Brooklyn said about layers. It's way easier to do it in summer.  Limiting colours also helped me enormously...but it also creates some difficulties for these 30 x 30 (or other) capsules since my whole closet is essentially a capsule anyway and everything goes with everything else except sometimes in terms of fabric weight and/or silhouette. I am really impressed with the variety you were able to achieve. And I love your pose in the last photo! I think this challenge is a lot harder to do in winter. I think you should get a special allowance for the extra layers that you need :) I see what you mean about the range of colours in your 30/30 capsule. I have found that deliberately limiting my colour palette has really improved my ability to mix and match items in my wardrobe. But this may not be such an issue for you - I think you are a much happier colour mixer than I am. It will be interesting to see your week 2! Yes the week of rugby viewing is an interesting fashion challenge - but believe me there is very little fashion involved!!  It will depend on the weather, on a crisp cold day jeans and boots with a wool coat will be fine.  On a rainy muddy day it will be very different.  And I will be working as well as watching my son so it will be a full-on week. Since effectively I will only have four-five more office days including today I think I will be fine, I just have to be clear not to include any more office clothes in the 30.  As I can wear jeans to work it should not be a problem. So cuddly and it works with your light tan booties and hair so well. I also love the peach scarf outfit colours on you. But my favourite outfit is that last one -- silver shoes for the win!  I'm impressed with your thought process here. If it were me, and I were doing a 30x30 challenge in my own winter, I think I would exclude coats, bags, accessories, and gear. And I would include at least some " rugby viewing" outfits -- or portions of those outfits -- as gear in this case. I mean, assuming you wear them essentially to the muddy field and not elsewhere. Okay, there might be a crossover item or two (a top you don't change out of afterwards) but if you can't really easily go anywhere in the clothes following the parental duties, except maybe for coffee with equally muddy parents, I think maybe they are a gear-equivalent separate capsule and should not count. I'm not trying to relax the rules so they are useless, but simply acknowledging the variety of roles in your life. I have a wide range of roles, also, and extremes of temperature even within a season, so I find it complicated to do these challenges. Stylefan - I am a fan of the wildcard statement piece.  It does mean I need essentials to make the whole thing work as I am not a true maximalist. Skylurker - I completely agree with you, thanks for the kind words. Thanks Dianna, Joy, LisaP and Shevia:) Smittie - yes our percentages are different.  I really could wear jeans and a fleece for work but I prefer to be a bit dressier.  I only need about two dressy work looks each season for the odd meeting.  Most of my going out is pretty casual (often sports related or family related) but I have more freedom now I have a 15 year old son.... Thanks all,  The lessons are in a way the most important part.  What I was most pleased about is actually wearing my accessories.  I will repeat my outfits during the challenge but want to challenge myself to tweak the accessories even in a small way. It seems to be equally distributed between work, gym, and outdoor activities. And there is some going out too. I have that combo too, but the split is 70%, 15%, 15% so I can load all my numbers into work. I really only need 1 outdoor activity outfits (plus raincoat plus rain boots). Anyway...if it were me, I might trade in a pair or two of work pants for some outdoor activity items. I LOVE the colours in the peach scarf outfit. Those are excellent on you. Tuesday - work from home,  Wore new thrifted faux fur coat. Wednesday - Work in the office.  Outfit posted last week on the mixing navy and black thread. Thursday - Work from home, visit parents and get haircut.  Attended sons school production and rugby again.  Notable that first time I have worn this dark peach scarf. Friday - work from home.  I had a day filing and sorting my office.  I wore slippers/uggs all day but did not include them in the 30. Saturday - rugby, baking, helping son with making a film - same jeans as Friday and same hoodie as Sunday Saturday night - dinner out at local restaurant.  Also wore faux fur jacket.  Felt this looked great on but picture is of poor quality.   Sunday - chores and sorting things,  Pictures in silver shoes but yet to leave the house. Lessons to date: <ul> <li>I like the statement piece - the faur fur and new jacket add this boldness as do my silver shoes.  </li> <li>My colour palette is not terribly cohesive - maybe I could think about a black based capsule and a warm based capsule.  I am okay with this though and seem to get by.</li> <li>It could be a struggle with the week of rugby viewing.  I possibly need to remove a couple of workwear options to think ahead to this time.  It can be cold and wet and muddy.  I will need to have pants that work with rainboots.  I could remove the bags from the list but that seems like cheating:)</li> <li>Because I am trying to photograph my looks I am upping my accessory game.  I am very happy about this!!</li> <li>I have to laugh from the relative glamour of Thursday to the Keeping it real of Friday!!!</li> </ul> Thanks- comments are very welcome!!
