Laura, break a leg! Figuratively of course!
This is really bad but I am very tempted to go searching for black capri leggings. I've only been on board for a week! But I can see their usefulness in my fall/winter wardrobe for FL to put under the short skirts and sundresses for months to come. Aarrgh - I am weak. Still resisting but don't know for how much longer. . .

Thanks everyone, for the interview good wishes!

Kristen, I will report back on the button issue. Angie, I am glad to hear your impression of Classiques is the same. Ever since last winter when you recommended that fab sweater with the ruffle front, I've been noticing more and more great items from that brand. Speaking of Nordstrom brands, did you know they dropped the Semantiks brand? The salesperson told me it's been absorbed into Halogen now.

Jonesy, I bought the blouse in the berry/burgundy-ish color to wear with a black suit.

The tie front on the blouse is genius. It hangs such that it covers your cleavage perfectly. How did they engineer that?? But for a job interview I'm erring on the safe side and wearing a second base cami with it. I did wear the blouse briefly yesterday with skinnies and dark brown riding boots, my lime green and berry-colored scarf from NAS and an olive green sweater coat from Eileen Fisher.

Everyone is doing amazing! Do we have about 10 weeks left?

Laura, as part of my "buy a good top as soon as you see it" campaign, I almost bought the same Classiques one yesterday! It was the buttons on the shoulders that threw me; let me know if they are noticeable under your jacket.

Laura that top is lovely - good luck with your interview!!!

As per last week, I decided to keep my eyes open for casual woven tops to be worn with jeans/shorts/skirts. Well, if you saw my White Shirt thread, you'll know I bought a 3/4 sleeve white shirt - its perfect with jeans, and will be perfect with my denim pencil skirt & clams when I make them (they are on my "to sew" list!), but its not good with shorts.

I've been toing and froing over it because its not 100% fit for purpose (as far as the shorts are concerned), but it does fill a really big hole, and considering I wear jeans a lot in remotely cool weather I will get a lot of wear out of it. So, I've decided to keep it... I actually really enjoyed going shopping for the very specific item and it was great being super ruthless discarding the not so good items!

I did however also buy some fabric to make 2 dresses and 2 tops over the weekend so I can't wait to get in and make the tops and see what other wardrobe holes emerge!

Other than that though, I'm not even tempted!!

Kim it sounds like your hole realisation was almost identical to mine!!

I tried the AT blouse myself - didn't fit :(, but I adore the quality. Taylor, did you have yours altered or are you wearing them voluminous?

Jonesy,
I'm definietly seeing the holes in my wardrobe as well (casual fall weather tops) I was a bit frustrated today, but I realize that without SYC, I wouldn't see that hole as clearly or be as focused on filling it when the time comes. I'm able to really assess how to best fill that hole when I have to go naked (lol..not quite that bad)

Good luck Laura on your interview!

Laura, did you get the blouse in the brown or pink?

Tanya, you are a SYC superstar for managing to avoid buying anything at the meet-up!

Everyone is doing so well! I find that I am being more experimental with my outfits, which is great. For example, I really need a new pair of black, knee-high boots. I usually wear a lot of black in the fall and winter, and I would always wear boots (I'm in the Great Lakes region in the US). But, since I cannot buy any, I am actually finding ways to wear my taupe Frye boots a lot, and my black engineer boots that have languished in my closet for a few years. So, it's been good for me (though I am still fantasizing about black, knee-high boots :).

Wow - certainly keep the Classiques blouse. It is amazing, and I can't wait to see you wearing it for work AND for play. I'm going to keep an eye out for it in case it goes on sale eventually - maybe by then I'll have some Nordstrom $10 off coupons or something to help.

Best of luck on your interview, Laura!

I am doing well too. I am definitely aware of what my "holes" are now. In 12 weeks, I have bought a backpack. That's it. Though that may change this week. I am thinking of buying a slip and a couple of long-sleeve t-shirts ( which I had never thought I needed, but now that the weather is chillier, I am finding a could use a couple more).

BTW - I love the Classiques shirt.

I've been good this week. I went to SteinMart with a coupon doing Christmas shopping and saw some cute non-grey or black sweater dresses and a LBD in cobalt, both things on my list. But I didn't even try them on.

Of course you do, Taylor! They are totally your style. I can completely picture you in them.

Well the AT box arrived today and as predicted, it's going back. Can't get the fit right on the blouse - it pulls across the bust in both a 4P and a 6P which is perplexing. Maybe it's partly due to the stretchy satin fabric.

Luckily the Classiques blouse is ideal, and I'll just have to ignore the buttons on the shoulders under my suit. All in the name of fashion!

Glad to hear all is well in the land of SYC. From your comments, it looks like not shopping is becoming a habit.

Oooh, I very much like both tops! I happen to like shiny and think it adds a little more interest to an outfit. I also wonder about the button on the shoulder. For me, my hair would get all wrapped up ha ha, but under a jacket it could feel funny as others point out.
I haven't shopped since jumping in but that has only been a week, so it's not fair to compare to you ladies who've been in this for weeks and weeks. I am thinking about my sundresses I have and how to play with them besides switching out shoes and jewelry. They don't seem as easy to style in different ways as other dresses, and obviously not as easy as separates. We are still in the high 80's so it's sundress weather for a while yet. Besides, in winter I won't be able to play with them, so why not seize the moment?

well, given that I got to have a birthday shopping spree last week, I'm quite content And then we had our first cool day finally yesterday. I'm looking forward to putting my new jacket and scarf (ahem, scarves... cough cough) to work. And I am ecstatic waiting for my new oxfords to be delivered Wednesday. I may have to cancel all plans just to play dress up and post pictures :-)

I do love that classiques top. The AT one is okay, but of course you wont' know until you have it on your gorgeous bod. I"m not a huge fan of shiny fabric myself.

The classiques top is gorgeous! I wonder, will the buttons on the shoulders be uncomfortable wtih a blazer though? I have a classiques top with a military vibe and like it a lot. I notice I like more of there items lately. I'm not a fan of shiny shirts but I have oily skin, and I don't think shiny and shiny work well.

I actually made a couple of purchases this week -- two business formal tops for my interview on Wednesday. This is the first:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....tback=1073

Is it just me, or is Classiques improving exponentially every season? This blouse is actually very long and fitted, and can be worn over skinny jeans or tucked into a skirt. Fab.

And this one, in a dark blue color, which I haven't yet received:

http://www.anntaylor.com/catal.....pe=Regular

Because I could get another top for 50% off from AT, I chose a shell that has wide grosgrain ribbon across it in horizontal bands.

I have the feeling I will keep the Classiques blouse and return the two AT tops but I need to see them in person. I don't love the satiny finish of the AT shirt for an interview. Actually I loved that shirt in the herringbone pattern and not as much as a solid.

What's up with everyone else? Hanging in there?
