Indian weddings are KILLER! I want to go too!

You should change the title of this thread to capture the words “Indian wedding” because there are plenty of fabulous Indian lasses on this forum who will have you sorted in two ticks.

Is a traditional Indian wedding? If so it might be nice to try a sari esque outfit x
Edit- also if strictly traditional there may be a need to cover arms, legs and hair
2nd edit- even if not traditional it might still be nice to wear something with an Indian vibe?

do you have friends that you can borrow something from?
I know the feeling of not wanting to buy something that you'll only wear once or twice. That is why a sheath dress is always great- in the right fabric, you should be able to get alot of wear out of it.

I don't have a sheath dress, I would like one that I could pull out and switch accessories so I could wear it for lots of different occasions but make it look different iykwim! I just had a quick look on the coast website and saw a few things that I liked but to be honest I need so many other things that I don't want to spend so much money on one outfit that I won't wear very often.

I have no idea what the protocol in the Indian culture is, but I will say that you are so beautiful and always look so put together, that I"m sure you'll do great.
Do you have a basic sheath dress that you can bring up to snuff with accessories and shoes?

My husband has just told me that we have been invited to a wedding/family celebration of an extremely weathly family he knows through work. Of course in all similar scenarios my immediate thought is one of dread, not because I don't want to go but because I have no idea what to wear and don't have anything remotely appropriate. This is an issue of low self confidence as no matter what I choose to wear I will worry that I don't look good enough and compare myself to everyone else there all evening! I should also add that the family is Indian, I don't know much about the culture but is there things that I should or should not wear with this in mind?! I hope that someone can enlighten me.
