Or I'm too impatient when I do them myself and end up with a horrible smudged mess! Every so often, I'll get Shellac done; I find it not too hard on my nails. Wouldn't recommend it all the time, as you do use acetone to scrape off. If you go to a quality salon and they adequately soak off your polish in the brand's recommended remover, the scraping should be minimal as the polish will lift off. Also, some gel brands work better for others. For me, CND works best on my nails. Ink and Gelish come off a bit harder. I prefer regular polish because there are so many more color choices, but I agree the longevity of gels cannot be beat. I do salon manicures every two weeks and am religious about wearing gloves in the kitchen. It's taking a long time plus a trip to the dermatologist to recover. Fortunately, he said that I would. I love how they stay shiny and last a long time. Then I had to go bare nails due to a surgery. I discovered that all the scraping off it takes to get rid of the gel nails left my nails really weak. It took them several months to recover their good natural state.</p> <p>FWIW, nail polish wise, I'm really fond of the Zoya product. They have an excellent nude-ish range for a variety of skin tones. Paloma is great for pale pinky people like me.
