Tables and chairs for 250+ guests had to be moved to make room inside, meanwhile the lightening had struck a transformer and blew out the electricity to the building. A generator supplied power to only the essential parts of the building so the peripheral parts were left dark and hot. The brides room was an oven and then we soon realized there was no running water. Electricity provides the power for the water pumps out at this remote location so that means the toilets aren't operational and there is no water in the restrooms to wash. Guests begin arriving in a torrential downpour as everyone is scrambling to flip the room for the ceremony. Some guests are late do to traffic and road conditions, one guest had lightening strike right by their car as they were driving up the road to the venue. The guests are seated and we are all waiting on the flower girl and her family that are late. Finally she arrives and the processional starts which sounds like "cats being skinned alive", the band's sound board was fried in the storm as they scurried to move the equipment inside. There are also alarms sounding in the background. The bride is escorted down the aisle by her father but the band leader plays the wedding march with his acoustical guitar and it was perfect! The bride and groom are at the alter and the minister begins by addressing all the issues everyone faced that afternoon and amid the storm, lightening and thunder, lack of power, water and with the sound of alarms in the background we were all together joyfully watching this couple be joined forever. After all, sometimes marriage goes a little different than we plan.</p> <p>Ps. The water was restored after the ceremony and the rest of the evening was perfection.</p> <p>Pss. We sold our house the day after the wedding, found a place to rent, will be moving in 30 days and will be building a new home closer to our family! </p>
