I tried on your first dress and was blown away at how flattering it was. I'm busty and it draped beautifully. I'm an apple and it gave me a waist. I am sad I am not purchasing it as I think it will be killer also in winter with boots and tights.

I like the dress modgrl posted, as a wrap dress will be so incredibly flattering on your curvy figure. I prefer dress #2 that you posted, but would urge you to try it on to check the drape and length of the dress. Most flattering is going to be just above or on the knee.

I just wanted to note that you should also consider the shoe you'll wear with the dress and I would like to suggest you possibly consider a shoe with a heel in a neutral colour and without ankle strap. This will help elongate your legline and avoid "cutting" your leg short. I'd definitely avoid a black shoe! (I thought I'd put this in, just in case you haven't considered this aspect yet.)

Good luck with your search, I hope you find your dream dress!

I agree with modgirl! It may seem counter-intuitive, but a less drapey dress will probably "hold you in" the best.

I really like the idea of a bright colored patterned dress for a summer wedding. I think it's very festive! My only concern with these is that they don't have any structure at all. Dresses that are all drapey and fluid like these don't give me enough body definition. They make me look like a lumpy potato sac. I like dresses like this one that are patterned, fitted and give you an exaggerated waist to hip ratio. I find this to be very sexy without being revealing. Good luck in your quest!

I agree that the second one might work better and that you have to try them. I think the cut of the first one requires good shoulders or else it will look frumpy over your bust. They are both beautiful dresses--good luck with them.

I'm not an expert, but I think that the second one might work better than the first...The shoulder line and v-neck should be flattering to a larger bust (though you might need a cami underneath, you can see how it fits). It also has more structure than the first, which I think might be better for your body type. An empire waist isn't generally recommended for hourglass types, but it looks like it will drape over your lower body, which could be a good thing unless you have a wider high (shelf-like) hip. I think you'll have to try it on to really see. Good luck!

I am attending an outdoor, evening wedding at the end of the month and I need to find a dress ASAP!! I've been attacking the Nordstrom anniversary sale and I found these 2, but I'm not sure. I'm only 5'1 and I'm a little chunky. I wear a size 12, but I am an hourglass shape. Big bust, big butt. Thoughts?
