Always love to see a beautiful bride, thanx for posting!:-) </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wedding-hair-and-makeup#post-942217 Sun, 26 May 2013 18:08:21 +0000 Diana 942217@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I don't yet have very many close-up photos of my hair and makeup (I'm sure the pro photographer has many but we haven't gotten his photos yet, and our friends/relatives mostly took shots from further away) but I wanted to talk about them anyway.&nbsp; The close-up photos here are actually from the trial when they took lots of photos for reference (in indoor lighting so the makeup looks a little weird since it's optimized for outdoors).&nbsp; Will try to post better photos when I get the pro ones.</p> <p>Anyway, you guys might remember when I was stressing over wedding hair and makeup, and ended up booking someone who was rather expensive but very nice, professional, and responsive.&nbsp; <i>I am so glad I went with them</i> because it came out amazingly.&nbsp; <i></i>The owner did not do my hair/makeup (I knew this going in) since she was already booked, but her staff did an amazing job, and she was there during the entire trial, giving tips and suggestions, etc.&nbsp; She also worked with me on all sorts of weird requests, including researching makeup ingredients to make sure they wouldn't trigger my skin allergies and accomodating my request for a last minute trial.&nbsp; Plus they came up with an ingenious solution to my 8,000 pound veil problem.&nbsp; (My mom made the veil and I didn't see/try the finished product until a few days before the wedding; she put all this beading (recycled from a vintage dress) on the bottom, which was gorgeous but made the veil weigh <i>a ton </i>and it was really hard to get it to stay in my hair<i>, </i>plus it pulled rather painfully when I just stuck it in my (unstyled) hair<i>.</i>&nbsp; Anyway the solution they came up with was to put two secret braids under the top of the bun, in which the comb for the veil could be anchored.&nbsp; Apparently this is how weaves are anchored too.&nbsp; Good thing I have a ton of hair so there was plenty of it to work with.&nbsp; I wore the veil for about 3 hours (1st look photos, ceremony, more photos) then I switched to my handknit shawl and the flower hair piece in photo 3.&nbsp; It stayed in place really well and did not hurt, so I'm convinced this secret braid anchor thing is magic.&nbsp; (Also, if you are considering wearing a veil for your wedding.. you should be aware that it gets yanked pretty much every time someone hugs you.&nbsp; And you will get hugged a lot.)<br />Aside from structural considerations, for the hair I asked for a messy bun with something loose/sideswept in front.&nbsp; I knew I did not want my hair pulled tight at the top.&nbsp; The entire thing was curled prior to putting it up, and I think there were at least 50 bobby pins.&nbsp; <br />For makeup, I asked for a natural look that would be good in full sunlight.&nbsp; The foundation is airbrushed (it actually comes out thinner that way because they thin it down with primer before applying).&nbsp; I'm not sure you can tell but instead of a ton of eye makeup they did false eyelashes.&nbsp; Apparently the professional ones come in mini lengths and are applied one by one so they actually do not look ridiculous on me.&nbsp; The lipstick is "Creme in my Coffee" by MAC.&nbsp; They gave me a tube of it so I will definitely be wearing it again!<br />All told, it took maybe 2 hours from start to finish, although the hair and makeup artists did overlap a little so it would have been longer if only one person were doing it.&nbsp; </p> <p>I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but since I've already written a novel, I'll stop here!&nbsp; </p>
