Hello, Angie, and thank you!
Aubergine and Vix--thanks for support! I think I am set for the first wedding, then.

So, with your and Aida's suggestions, I will try these with the Theory skirt as well. I had just assumed that was too much black, but they are dressier so that helps, too--try on, try on.

Y'all are the best.

Hi Unfrumped --

You're living up to your name in #1 and 2! I like both options as-is.

I hear you on the ankle strap issue but don't see much effect on your leg line. I have a feeling I'd like the shoes in 1-2 with the skirt in #3 more than I like the sportier option there.

I really love the first shoes with the dress! And the dress in general. Don't think the ankle strap is a problem at all in terms of being flattering. So many of the weddings I've been to lately have been outside somewhere kind of rural. Always really lovely settings, but it does make it hard to figure out shoes.

The other shoes are nice too!

Wow, thank you for taking the time to review and comment! I feel better about these options. I was ( maybe am) hoping to find a more versatile shoe ( thinking solid) but that doesn't seem likely in the next week.
I also have worn this dress with my raspberry jean jacket to provide more structure than these toppers, in view of the drapiness of the dres, and also some bit of juxtaposition. . i had thought that might be too warm for late May- probably is not too casual for a farm wedding, if the rest if the outfit is dressy- but this week we had 45 degree mornings, so, who knows.

Thank you for the ideas!

I love the blue dress with the purple cardi. That is such a striking combination and absolutely beautiful. And the shoes are fantastic, both in general and with the dress. I very much like the ankle straps. I think the outfit in #2 is perfection.

I like the ankle strap shoes with the dress - this looks like a perfect wedding outfit to me - especially in #1. The flats look great as well.

I really like #1 with the silky gray topper. The shoes look lovely, ankle strap and all, as you said the white will function partially as a nude especially since the band is very thin. I don't think that adding a lighter belt is going to be too many horizontal lines, it will just be the two thin ones and they're spread quite far apart. The metallic belt looks good too though, just lower contrast which nets you a nice column of color. I quite like the white flats in 3/4! I do like the shoes you have in the outfit photos though, the dark picks up nicely on the dress; if you pop on a white belt (and maybe also a white topper), then those flats could be another good option.

Thanks, missvee! I have the 2 toppers. The shoes are under consideration.
I have both pale greigy belt and pink belts. When I tried the shoes with the pale belt, I felt I had too many horizontal lines with the ankle straps and belt together But that is the belt I would wear normally or with a pink jacket and a different shoe. So the photo is with a metallic belt that blends in. Perhaps I am too sensitive to that as an issue?

I like 1 and 2 with the shoes you're showing ( do you already own these ?) A narrow white belt might make it a bit more summery.
The shoes in 3/4 look good on your foot.

My poor spring and summer dress capsule consists of orphans everywhere--dresses without shoes, skirts without tops, shoe wannabe's without the dress. Oy.

First up wedding to attend will be outdoors evening on a farm venue. A lot like my DD's last year!

1-2 Here is my VC blousy dress from last year.
Shown with an ankle strap teeny wedge'D'Orsay hybrid.
Is sleeveless and I like topper options, so shown with a gray silk kinda-shrug for tonal look, and an EF linen cardi for color.

Problems:
1) Main problem is finding shoes I can wear. This dress length -looks good with a heel or wedge but these are hard for me to find. Need closed toes which is hard to find, and low wedge or blocky heel, no pumps or kittens. So, lots of open toes this time of year.
?-- Maybe should abandon strap shoe style. I got these after having ordered & returned several other flats/pointy/loafers and just not found anything yet that worked on my fussy feet + right color + dressy-ish. E.g., thought I might dress down with a modern white loafer, but so many are sporty "driving" or something. I thought the ivory strap would act as a kinda nude, but am not really fond of adding the strap to legline with the longer skirt.

3-4--working on other options for weddings or in general, I found this tri-tone "pointy" (kinda) flat that is very comfortable as a possible contender to un-orphan my Theory silk skirt, plus it goes with other skirts. It somewhat duplicates some shoes I have in terms of "specatator" colors but is a different style. Did not want black shoes for the soft neutrals colors in this skirt, but the amount of black in this shoe is just the bit on the heel.

What say the Fabbers--how to rescue outfit #1? What thoughts on flat in 3-4--is the gold rim (or whole shoe) weird or frumpy?
