many thanks all for sharing your happiness with me now, on to the queue:

anne--thanks for the link, i found the image you mentioned. very pretty! the selection is amazing, albeit a bit overwhelming!

bellacville--your seamstress tips are great, thank you. i recently had a jersey dress altered, and the service/quality was wonderful. my first tailoring experience, and a happy one at that.

angie--i can't wait to send a pic for you and the ladies to decipher. that is, if you don't mind a blurry shot standing atop the toilet in the bathroom?

blb--thank you so much for your behind-the-scenes tips. i'm still slightly stunned with everything, important details seem over my head. thank goodness i have all of you to majorly help me out!

maya--you are absolutely dead on, thanks for the reality check.

btw, my gel-padded wonderbra is getting pretty thrashed. any brands you recommend? so far, i am inclined to consider online companies that specialize in small-chested lingerie, such as 'aa lingerie' ...thoughts?

I don't know anything about wedding dresses, but it makes me so sad that you're actually feeling shame! I've posted many times about all the reasons why a small chest is not only okay, but great! There is no reason to be ashamed of something that you have no control over anyway. When I think of being ashamed of something, I think of eating an entire box of cookies or not doing homework or something like that.

The women who do fittings have seen EVERYTHING, including women who have had mastectomies and women who are nursing. You will surely not be the first small-chested woman they have ever seen, and they can definitely help fill you out a bit if that is what you want.

You have a boyfriend who proposed to you, so clearly your chest hasn't exactly hindered you in any way. I'm sure you will look lovely

Congratulations! That is very exciting. Do you know what sort of dress styles you like (even if just in theory, not necessarily for you)? There are so many types of dresses available these days. You can find almost anything. When I got married, I wore a dress that was red on top (and it was a real wedding dress)! I guarantee you will find something you love that flatters your body type. It may take some time--I probably tried on 70+ dresses--but it is actually a really fun thing to do, especially if you can bring a good friend or family member or two along with you, and pace yourself with breaks for coffee, lunch, etc. throughout the day. I don't know what the stores are like where you are but in my case my mom or sister helped me get into and out of the dresses, not the salesperson, so I never really had a stranger looking at me sans clothing. I also highly recommend taking extra care with your hair and makeup on the day you go out to try on dresses. It will make a big difference in how you feel about yourself.

You know, those bra fitting ladies and seamstresses have seen it ALL and then some. Maybe go for a bra fitting before you go dress-shopping, so you have a bra to try on with the dresses (preferably strapless, I'd think)? If it were me I'd promise myself a nice lunch out or a cupcake or a fancy cocktail after the fitting as a reward for doing something that seems unpleasant.

Mazeltof! I love weddings! So fab! I’d love to help you with wedding dress selections.

Have you ever posted a pic of yourself on this forum? If not, a visual would really help.

Congratulations on your impending engagement!

I just wanted to tell you that this is nothing to worry about. Good seamstresses, especially those specializing in bridal couture have many tricks up their sleeves to make you feel fabulous in your wedding gown, no matter what your body issues are. My best advice to keep an open mind, give yourself plenty of time and try on as many dresses as you can. I am sure you will find that special dress for you and a good seamstress will have no problem fitting it to your body shape.

Congratulations on your engagement!

I am one of those who has a fairly similar build to you. However I wanted to share with you what a friend of mine wore. She is a distinct pear shape, with a very small bust and I would have never pictured her in a strapless dress but she was stunning.
The dress is something like this http://images.google.com.au/im.....7%26sa%3DX

it is ED 2304 on the third page under "bridals" if the link doesn't work.
The bits that stick out at the top were further away from the body on my friend.
The rest of her dress was A line.

Hopefully you'll get lots of help here, but I noticed that a google search on "wedding dress body type" or "wedding dress small bust" brings up lots of suggestions too

hi, hope all of you had a lovely holiday and new year celebration!

a few days ago my bf of 4 yrs. just asked me when i'd like to go shopping for an engagement ring...i was totally shocked! in a good way, of course. as luck would have it, he soon thereafter came down with food poisoning, and i had to take care of him, so no shopping...unless you count ginger tea, white bread and bananas :-P

while he was hibernating on the couch, i started wondering about wedding dress styles and body type. because my shape (like a few others on this forum) is a bit unusual--aligned shoulders/hips, defined waist, but A/AA bust--i'm totally lost. honestly, i've never been professionally fitted due to shame, embarrassment...and noticeable reddish scars between my breasts due to a hormonal flair many months ago :-(

i just can't bear the thought of a perfect stranger seeing my double negative torso. sounds so insecure, doesn't it? this is how i feel at the moment...

anyway, i'd really appreciate all of your input ladies, as i am feeling quite flustered. if only wedding attire norms included angie's 'smart-casual' formula, i'd be done with it! ;-)

many thanks again...
