I almost always get my hair done professionally for weddings... I can do a passable job on my own, but it is relaxing to sit in a chair and let someone else do it. Plus they always do better than I would! I would go for it.

If you are anything like me you will spend the morning chasing after your family, ensuring the girls hair is done, their clothes remain clean and neglect yourself. If you are likely to be the same I would book an appointment as time for you to reflect and enjoy the process of getting ready for your brothers day.

I would recommend getting your hair styled. I always enjoy getting my hair done for soecial events. It always feels really special and looks great in pics.

Janet - I don't think I have time for a blow dry tomorrow as they are squeezing in the cut at 2:30 and I pick my girls up at 3:10 the other side of our town (good idea though)

I'd really like to go to a salon close to where I am staying - am thinking of asking my FB friends for recs.

Deborah, your hair is always impeccable - my standards aren't nearly as high!!

Maybe you could ask your stylist who is cutting your hair tomorrow for suggestions on styling, or where to go in the city for a styling. Better yet, maybe they could style your hair after they cut it to how you want it to look for the wedding. Then they can either tell you how to do it yourself or take a picture so you can show a stylist on the big day. That way you won't have any surprises.

I would say go and ask for a blowout. I had it done as a bridesmaid once, and it was great. Every picture was like a shampoo commercial, because we'd all had it done! I remember feeling super cool, because I asked for a zig zag part.

Anne, I never have my hair blow dried by a stylist for a function or event because I have never found anyone who does a blow dry on my hair as well as I do:). My current hair dresser is quite good but... I would be concerned about going to a hairdresser you don't know and has not styled your hair before. Some might say its only a blow dry but it can still end up not looking as you want it to. I read that in the US "Blow Out" salons are really popular where they specialize in a blow dry (or blow out) but I havent seen any here yet.

It would be lovely to have your hair professionally styled but it is risky if the stylist doesn't know you. Please note tho that I am neurotic about my hair so I am really particular.

I think it's a styling or a blowout...Maybe ask the person who is cutting it what they recommend?

Jeneva - I am not sure if it does!! I have so rarely had it styled and mostly it has been in bridesmaid styles. 11 years ago I had mine done for the last family wedding - I had straight long hair then, and the stylist blow dried it straight - which is was already, so I felt it was not really worth paying for.

Suz - I am still growing it out - this will just be a trim. Will get back to your other question in a new thread...

So what does one ask the stylist for?

I think that's a good idea, esp. if your hair looks better when done professionally.

If it will make you feel more confident and fab, go for it!

If you're still growing your hair out and it is going to be "between" lengths/ styles, I would definitely do this. If you are getting it cut short and that is manageable for you, then you might not need.

Have a wonderful time, Anne. And what happened with the shoes and topper in the end?

So my brother's wedding is this coming saturday ( I have already asked extensively for feedback on my outfit!) I am getting my hair cut tomorrow - it has been 6 months. Just wondering though, if I should also go on the day of the wedding (to somewhere in the city, where the wedding will be) and have it blowdried or styled?

What are your thoughts on that?
