Excellent suggestions, everyone. Thanks! I found some Scotchgard at the store last night in the housewares aisle of the grocery store. Thanks goodness I needed paper towels already, right? I'll give it a go and see how it works.

Do you have Scotchguard in the US, it works for most fabrics?

I bought a weatherproofing spray at Nordstroms shoe dept. that can be used on suede so I imagine it can be used on fabric too.

I use a spray on all my shoes/booties for the winter. It's by Bass, but I've heard great things about Nikwax as well. Be prepared for a slight darkening on light colored nubuck, but I've not experienced anything on leathers.

I don't know how to weather proof fabric, I'm afraid. I hope someone else chimes in.

I think light coloured leather can usually be treated with the same products you'd use for any other leather? The creams or sprays?

I have some lovely shoes, and I would very much like to keep them that way. Can I get your recommendations for weatherproofing fabric shoes? How about light colored leather, like the Doc Marten Sara?

Thanks!
